Re: Good bye Funny Man, Johnathan Winters 4-12-13
Jonathon walked up beside me at the Ventura Gun show a couple years ago. I had my arm in a sling from shoulder surgery and he looked at me and said, " The wounded men are allowed to come along too." It doesn't make any sense but it doesn't have to from Jonathon. Great comedian!

I am indeed fortunate to get such an accurate rifle. Got lucky there! The rifle is amazing! I am shooting from prone with my left hand supporting the butt. I am real solid in that position, but I did have a sore back after the match. I wouldn't be as steady from sitting so I will put up with the sor...

Second Black Powder Silhouette Match
I shot the new to me Browning in my second match yesterday. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/Post_Pic_994x500.jpg I had a few areas I wanted to improve on after last months match where I shot a score of 17. One problem was the 4 pound trigger. That was easy to improve by replacing the spring. It is n...

Re: Model 94 (1940 vintage) stock repair
I repaired one like that only worse. I was able to get 60 Minute Epoxy at Ace Hardware. That gives you a lot more working time. Warming the stock in the sun or with a hair dryer helps thin the epoxy and get it into the crack. If the crack is deep you can drill a hole from the end of the stock down t...

Re: Annealing - For levergunners??
The method I like is one that John Barsness recommends. Hold the base of the case in your fingers and rotate the neck of the case in a candle flame. When the base of the case gets warm wipe the case in a damp towel. The necks get black with carbon but the method works great. For me, it is to easy to...

The rifle is a 40-65. I picked up a RCBS-40-400 CSA mold a few years ago so that is what I am using. I used wheel weights to cast with and the bullets weigh about 420 grains. I threaded the holes for the all thread but either way would work as long as you can keep the bolt from turning-like 3855's setup. The springs to hold the jaws open are a nice feature. I should do that with mine.

Questions often come up about how to change barrels. I replaced the barrel on my Model 94 444 Marlin and took photos. This is my setup. Re: More question on big bore 307 conversion
I think you have it now. The lower links are different between 30-30's and the 307, 356 and 444. The cartridge stop is taller on 30-30's and I expect the 375 uses the same link as the 30-30. I did an experiment. I loaded five 30-30 rounds in my 356 Winchester. They cycled through the action without ...

Re: More question on big bore 307 conversion
IIRC you are converting a 375 to 307? I don't know what the lifting gate is. Do you mean the carrier? The carrier is the same for both calibers. The little tab on the lower link is the cartridge stop. You will have to file it down a little because the case body of the 307 is bigger than the 375. The...

Nice shooting! Those rifles were made to shoot off hand. The crescent butt keeps it on your shoulder and the combination of drop in the stock and barrel weight makes it hang just right.
