Re: barrell length and velocity
Thanks all, MarlinMan my main reason for the 24" is the sighting radius, I'e tried a tang sight and a receiver peep sight and I find target acquisition slower for Boar on the run, some say a longer barrel slows you down but on a light levergun I have found this isn't so. I agree with COSteve re...

Re: barrell length and velocity
Thanks Steve, certainly impressive results, 2005 fps with 158gr is nothing to complain about, more than adequate for what I will want. Thanks again for your reply, regards

barrell length and velocity
This subject has probably been done to death already, barrel length v's velocity. First of all my go to gun for pig shooting in outback Australia is my 50 year old Winchester 30/30, open sights, 20 inch barrel. I've literally nailed hundreds and hundreds of wild pigs with this gun plus numerous Samb...

SAVAGE 99 year of manufacture
I recently purchased a Savage Model 99 and I am trying to identify the year of manufacture, any accurate help would be greatly appreciated, on the Barrel it has stamped 99A .308 Winchester, on the receiver stamped serial is B804340, that B may be an 8 but it sure looks like a B, regards

Rossi 45/70 big loop levergun

Any general discussion of this levergun would be appreciated especially by owners or those who h...

Model 94 30.30 loading problems
I have had my Winchester 94 30.30, top eject, for about 40 years, an ever reliable lever gun, on a recent hunting trip I tried to cycle the lever, the cartridge lifting mechanism ejected the round, due to this I was unable to load. On emptying the rifle of ammunition and loading 1 round in the magaz...
