I agree with the others concerning the shorter round,why don't you trim back some 38 special brass to the length you are looking for and try it out? I don't have a power trimmer, doing it by hand is a PITA... Could you slip them over a metal dowel then use a copper-pipe type 'tubing cutter' on them...

My Rossi wouldn't feed a cartridge that short very smoothly. You've made sure yours does? I have not gone this short, that's part of the process, but what I have done is find that my gun will feed wadcutters seated out a little loaded in .38spl. COL and bullet shape seem to be major factors in this...

OK, couldn't wait, so I went spring shopping at the hardware store. Found a good candidate, slightly shorter, slightly smaller wire diameter, slightly closer wound. It works great, nice and smooth. I'm sure a pro action job would be even sweeter, but this seems pretty darn nice to me.

I can't get the plunger lined up so it will depress. I had a Norinco Type 56 AK-47 in .223 that was a real shooter. Loved that thing.They got banned here in the Workers Paradise of SoCal, so I replaced it with a milled and screwed SKS that after a trigger job and Tech Sights once put 2 bullets in ONE hole at 100 yards. Keeping it.

How fast do you want to go? If the bullet fits and you stay below 1800 you don't need anything but good lube. Yes, a card or wad can make up for a bit of poor fit. Try milk jug plastic.
