Hey! Is that Jeremy on the left???? :D Tom http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j119/mountainchinito/ATT00001.jpg HA HA  I think you would have to use the 120MM main gun on a M1A1 Abrams to put down a squirrel that size  . Nope. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement...

Re: Nix on the .38-40 unless you reload.
Would that include Winchester Super X 180g? I ask because the shop that will probably do the front sight for me has it in stock.Tumbleweeds wrote:Factory ammo for the .38-40 is loaded to black powder pressures and performance

T/C Muzzleloader, need ID please
My nephew and his wife are in town for the weekend and during dinner last night he told me he'd made his first firearm purchase. He forgot to bring it with him and all he could remember was it is a Thompson .50cal 1982 commemorative. I don't recall what was being commemorated but he was certain it w...

Thanks for the advice so far, keep it coming! For the time being I'm going to be limited to factory fodder. What's a good factory load for the .45 Colt then? I'm not as comfortable with open sights as I used to be since I went to glasses. Looks like I'll just have to spend more time with it.;) Same ...

Thanks guys! My dilemma has been whether or not to get the Buffalo Classic or the 1895CB. I like the price of the BC, I like the sight arrangement of the BC, I like the looks of the 1895CB. Since the front sight is dovetailed on the 1895 it looks like I could get a Lyman sight set and have the best ...

Texas Summer Safari arsenal question
OK, I sent my deposit in for the Texas Summer Safari. I'm doing the meat hunt but haven't decided if I want to go for a deer or hog. Right now, I'm pondering exactly what I want to use. Yeah, I'm already amped up over this... My options right now are: Win 94 .30-30 - used it for years growing ...

Quick Marlin 1895CB question
According to Davidson's the front sight is a "Marble Carbine". What I don't know is if it's dovetailed and therefore windage adjustable.
If it is, I might have a solution to a dilemma...
Thanks!

FWIW, black powder works fine in the 1911 Colt pistol. There was a BP discussion on another board where a poster said that back in the '70s he'd loaded up enough 9mm rounds with BP to run a mags worth through his MP40. Said he got the idea from a Phil Spangenberger (IIRC) article where he'd loaded ...

I will make my usual request/plea. If your rifle is in original condition, please sell it and buy another to build on. There are already far too many buba'd and butchered cadets out there. :( Agreed. Do I WANT a .45-70?
I'll be up front, I have no NEED for one, but being a sucker for hyphenated, historic calibers I keep thinking I WANT one. Found an H&R Buffalo Classic at todays show for $380, Marlin 1895CB for $680-ish IIRC, 1895GS for about the same price and I think an 1895G in the high $500's. These were al...
