Re: New trail gun needed
I finally decided to take my trusty old Commander in .45 along, shoots good, in a pancake holster it rides high and flat and small game season is closed so it went along, pretty hard to beat the 1911's unless your in big bear country. I have run into 3-4 feral dogs out there, that evening I was tryi...

New trail gun needed
I'm going to try hiking into my favorite fishing pond in the A.M. but my legs hurt and back is locking up, so I'm thinking I need a new trail gun. I'm looking for something that looks as good as my Commander of Vaquero, About a half pound loaded would be nice, recoil like a .22 and hit like a .454, ...

Things have been going remarkably well this week, kinda scares me, anyway my baby girl graduates college in four weeks and is getting married in six. My brother in law bought one last fall, we put about 40rds. through it before the shroud around the face of the bolt blew off, feeding was erratic and front and rear sight would not stay in place. He sent it back and after a couple months or more he got it back, we took it out this weekend and shot ...

It's weird, our local TV station is playing back to back episodes of Fess Parkers Daniel Boone. I guess I never realized how much Kentucky looks like the republic of California. The little Marlin .45 carbine might be a good choice if it's reliable, I would get rid of that extra stuff on it and put it back in a user friendly wood stock if it was going to be a family gun.
