Probably a 1895 Winchester in .270 or 30-06
A SRC carbine... at least a 90% gun.... if I couldnt find a 270 the 30 Govt would do. Need the upper wood too.... I really dig those carbines and now days they bring way more than I care to pony up.

I'd jump on that. Most "white" Winchester 94's have asking prices over $500 these days.
If you flip this page back to the home page and click Winchester Resources you should find a serial number source. Pre war and Pre 64 guns are always a nice find.

If you take "American Rifleman" ---- a couple of issues back they ran a pretty exhaustive peice on how to hollow grind stock tips and drivers to fit the odd screw. You can buy tips that are half ground (one side) that you can custom finish.

I put a 4x on my 77/22... a Simmons Whitail... I think that was about $50 bucks a few years ago.
Most 22's dont need much more than a 4x fixed... and a 10/22 would justify a $100 unit (TOPS) if you buy into the idea that the optics should cost half of the rifle's cost.

if you examine a lot of pre 1940 ...even pre 1960 saddles most will measure in the 14 inch range.
The 16, 17 and even 18 inch association tree we can buy today is a by-product of good feeding we partake in these days.
