Re: 357 carbine and deer: opinions on the 158 gr Hornady xtp

There are two styles of XTP bullets, HP & FP. When loading for deer, is there preference of one over the other, or does it matter?

Re: What happened to Wild West Guns (Alaska)

Went to www.wildwestguns.com and they show addresses and maps for both Alaska and Las Vegas. Appears as though they expanded without closing the original shop.

Re: looking for Buckeye companion for '92 in 32-20

There are a couple of Rugers on Gunbroker today. One is a convertable Vaquero 32-20/32 Mag. and the other is a Convertable Buckeye being sold as part of a set to include the 10MM/38-40. Both seem a bit pricey though.

Tutt,
Is it legal now for Canadiens to carry the Redhawk into the woods? It seems that Kirk D. posted a thread over the weekend that sounded to me like a handgun must be ancient or the ammunition obsolete to carry up north.

I'm not sure exactly where the Wesson & Harrington name came from, but this model was brought out by Harrington & Richardson a few years ago. In the H & R catalogs description they mention that Harrington & Richardson began manufacturing a similar model in 1871, based on the Frank We...

Bis, certainly understandable. Mine came with no inserts so I bought a set from Lyman. I only have two posts and one is very wide which covers alot of target far out. With time, I'll find what I need. Thanks again for the help.

Thanks Bis - It sounds like switching to the FP may solve my problem with elevation adjustments. My Lyman sight also has many inserts and is probably the same as yours. Not long ago, I purchased a used, but very good condition T/C Hawken with a similar globe front sight and a tang peep, but I have n...

Hobie, Thanks for the response. I realize that I need a lower front sight, but most of the company's that I have asked do not seem to know which sight will fit the dovetail to replace the Lyman #17. I have asked H & R, Williams, Marbles, Brownells and Midway without much help. I did purchase one...

I have the 38-55 that was marketed under the Wesson & Harringtion name. It has the Williams WGRS rears sight with the #17 Lyman front. I've never been crazy with this set up, I have the rear sight up as high as it will go at 100 yds. and it still shoots low. I have asked Williams, Marbles and H ...

I don't know much about the 45-70 other than watching a couple of guys shooting them at the local range. I find it hard to believe you can make a mouse fanny burp load with that caliber, but I've been wrong before. As others have stated, the .22 rimfire with the right load is probably the way to go....

I've got the 24" model and like it pretty well. For jacketed bullets, it seems to have a preference for Hornady XTP's. For lead bullets it shoots Lyman 358156 gas check bullets pretty well. You have to be careful of your cartridge oal on heavier bullets such as a Keith style lead or the Remingt...
