Re: Lead Rifle Men
Pitchy, I'd say you need more heat and tin. A fellow I worked with years ago made a lot of lead soldiers and said the only thing that worked was lead/tin. Of course he was bending the soldiers into other poses but that's probably a good start. I see the mold doesn't have handles, so probably should ...

Re: Diagnosis Ruger extractor issue?
If Ruger will fix it gratis that's the way to go. On the MKI and MKII this problem is fixed by replacing the extractor with a Volquartsen extractor, and lightly dressing the tops of the magazine feed lips. What happens on a lot of mags is that the rim drags across the mag lips when extracting which ...

I've found brand new brass of any make can do this. It needs a little lube for the first time. Lee case sizing lube (the white stuff in the tube) is a wax, can be applied with a q-tip, dries quickly and will not contaminate the powder. Yes, it's a hassle and takes time, but should only need to be do...

Mainhunter, the bullets have to be REAL hot when you knock them out of the mould and into the water. If the mould is just hot enough to get good castings they won't be hot enough to get a good heat-treat. Pick up the casting pace until the bullets come out frosty and perfectly filled out. This will ...

As many have stated, low power is the way to go (not over 2x). You need field of view, not magnification. How much magnification do our preferred iron sights have, that work so well at 200 yards (with good light and good eyes)? The scope removes the problem of lining up the sights and the target, an...

I have had three, now have two, a 30-30 and a 222. As mentioned the 222 is easily sub-MOA. The SSP bullets (single shot pistol) if still made would be a good choice. And yes,...

Wm,
Yes you can. However I believe 7.62 brass is thicker and so your case capacity will be less than 300 Savage brass. Weigh a formed and trimmed case and compare to a 300 Sav. case. You'll need to start with starting loads and work up carefully.
