Re: Why a 2' brl on a pistol cartridge rifle?
Geeze Louise ya'll are right there just seems to be a snag in the eddy on a particular word and/or its application. I could make the argument that no firearm is accurate w/o human participation because it can't load, aim & fire itself. All firearms, in this context, are nuttin' more than extensi...

Re: Why a 2' brl on a pistol cartridge rifle?
It's all good guys & I thank one n all for their perspective response. In pistolas 50'ps is thrown out as a somewhat standard increase for an additional inch of brl up to a point. I'll speculate that from 16 to 20 there isn't quite 200'ps and from 20-24'ps there would be even less in your run of...

I'm a tad old to be quotin' these fellers, however I think the Beastie Boys said it best:

Sometimes a little levity goes a long ways.

I like my 30" brl mod 37 scattergun. Long, lean, light & I couldn't imagine shooting a 3 or 3.5" shell in something similair on a regular basis.

Re: Why a 2' brl on a pistol cartridge rifle?
The 24" does look kewl and I personally like the 20" for increased capacity or less tension on the mag spring and the report is not quite as loud w/longer brl. As previously stated, I'd lop off some of the stock if I found need of a shorter carbine and maintain the 20". I'm giving ser...

Why a 2' brl on a pistol cartridge rifle?
Even Rossi won't offer the 480 or 454 in a 24" & those would be rounds that could benefit from the extra length. Most of what I read sez 16" is plenty and there's a little gain going to 20", but for the most part the extra two round capacity and quieter report seem to be more adva...

Re: Puma/Rossi furniture, Buds Guns Wrong pics etc...
I ordered two Puma/Rossi levers and neither looked like the pictures, but they were the correct model. A carbine is roughly a pound and a half lighter than a rifle, but the nose heavy octagon brl rifle should be easier to hold on target. Pictures threw me off till I realized that the magazine tube w...

Re: Puma/Rossi furniture, Buds Guns Wrong pics etc...
I may be wrong. but I don't think Rossi makes a 24" round barrel just like they don't make a 16" octagon brl short rifle. Rnd brl is carbine and octagon brl is rifle. The buttstock is one inch longer on the oct brl rifle producing one inch overall longer length over the rnd brl carbine. As...

That makes sense w/shotgun pad. I would try to use that w/20" brl if I wanted a shorter overall length before dropping 4" of brl to the 16". It wouldn't look correct either, but in that case I would take function over form coz I really like the 20" brl and could probably get with...

Re: "Field" tactical Chucky D 18.5" Nickel 870 pump clone
CD AW & Tactical are manufactured in Turkey by Akkar. The tactical looks kewl, but I'm old school. Don't know what I'd do w/pistol grip. Folks seem to think that the AW is patterned after the 870. I'm not a blk gun guy. I like 'em shiny. I do like Ghost Ring sights though. I'd prefer they see me...

I don't know coz I'm dumb as a rock, but if I was looking for a more common caliber rifle I'd pick somethin' other than the 45 Colt.
I'd go waly-world ammo 357/44mag. I have seen cowboy 44spl though no 45 Colt at my W-W.
Maybe you should swap me your rifle for a 45 colt rifle sans engraving...

Of course my main issue is matching up the wrong pic and sometimes descriptions. They also listed the short rifle description as 1.5" shorter than the round brl carbine, go figure. Compared to the 20" rnd brl carbine the 20" short rifle w/super long forend stock is one ugly duckling, ...

Thanks Steve. As stated the carbine looks fine, but my brother doesn't need a 45 Colt. That's why I order him a 44 mag so he could pick up ammo @ Waly-World. I bought a 20" octagon 44 mag for my brother. However, the pic at BudsGuns shows a 24" rifle. The forearm stock is the same length so now, on the 20" short brl, it appears to be a 3/4 Mannlicher, almost. The price was right, but this changes the entire look. I can understand the rear ...

The last bear I saw in these parts was 35 yrs ago. I understand and appreciate the increased MV & corresponding ME from the longer brl. For a pistola cartridge the 357 shines as an affordable, flat shooting, lethal round w/virtually no recoil. I was looking at the 480 ammo, though costly & n...

Thanks again for the response gents. So I just joined the lever action class w/45 Colt. Now that the 480 is DQ'd and all the affordable stock of Puma/Rossi is dwindling I need some help deciding on what else to buy.
