I dont know if I could hit a dime at 100 but I get 3 shot groups at 100 with my 99 300 savage that you can cover with a dime. My 348 is a 3/4" group rifle at 100 with peep sights. danny How do you guys DO that with non-magnifying sights; I can't even see the bullseye at that range without a sc...

I Might Have Hit It That is taking a shot with the Winchester 94 30-30, iron sights, at a dime, 100 yards downrange; I think there is a good chance that I hit it. I tried today with the Howa 1500 30-06, at a silver dollar sized target, 300 yards downrange; missed by 1.25 or so inches. I am still getting my windage correct after load development, and with these round nose cast bullets windage is tricky; but I am pretty sure I have the windage adjusted properly...

How well do the 420HC blades from Buck take an edge? Hard to do or easy? I sharpen my Buck before deer season and it holds it's edge through gutting, skinning, then about halfway through butchering the first deer. Then I'll take a few minutes to get it sharp again; and then again after butchering, ...

Can you tell where the constriction is ? Just ahead of the forcing cone ehre the barrel screws into the frame maybe? It sounds like a good candidate for fire lapping. If that Eddystone 1917 smokes, it is not because of the bore condition. Go back to school on that one. Why is this site so prone to the arrogant insulting types? Original 5 groove Eddystone, Remington and Winchester 1917 barrels tend to run large at .309 or a smidge larger in the grooves. WWII rebu...

Got These Cast Bullets Figured Out
Well, I have precise loads for all my center-fire firearms but 2. My 686 has a bore constriction, which faster moving bullets, (357mag,) will lead really bad. Then my Eddystone M1917 smokes like the dickens. The bore is pitted badly so gas escapes around the bullet; paper patching could solve that p...
