Re: To buckhorn or not to buckhorn
Thank you all. I'll try heavier bullets and messing more with my sight picture before changing sights.

Re: To buckhorn or not to buckhorn
Fred, What caliber is the Rossi? What loads are you using? How tall is the front sight now? Do you have the rear sight all the way down? How are you aiming? That does seem to be way high for normal iron sights, but without more info I can't say for sure. I would suggest figuring out why it shoots t...

To buckhorn or not to buckhorn
My Rossi 1892 with full buckhorn sights shoots too high, way too high (8 inches @25 yds, 16 inches at 50 yds). Without using a serious amount of Kentucky windage by raising the front sight or aiming really low, its tough to be on the paper. I'm thinking about looking into a Marbles Tang sight, but w...

variables in reloading 357 magnum
Hello all - just shot my first ever 25 reloads (357 mag). Very much fun, soft shooting, and pretty accurate (for me), better than factory (all 25 rounds, 2" group, off-hand, high/left, . However, dirtiest rounds I ever fired through my S&W 686 4". Some visible specs of unburnt power in...

Re: what do you think?
Install a sensor light or two tomorrow and wait for them to turn on, maybe a game camera too. I'd bet that the pup is mainly agitated because the big dog is. I think staying loaded , and keeping it handy, make sense too.

reloading 357, favorite primers and powders
Thanks to the generosity of a member of this forum and good advice from him and others, I'm now awaiting the Lyman reloading manual and I'm soon to be studying for a new hobby. Thank you all. I'm sure that this has been asked and answered more than once, but I'd like to get opinions on what powder &...

I've got to find a way to get paid to do this
Check out this ballistics website, the results are interesting. I've got to find a way to get paid to do this, or something similar.

Re: Starting to reload 357
Fred, Nice to hear you are wanting to expand your shooting pleasure by hand loading your own ammo. I am so glad that I took the plunge several years ago and learned to hand load my ammo. I now load about a dozen different cartridges and have learned volumes about our sport BECAUSE I took up loading...

Re: just got a used EMF Rossi SA 1892 in 357
Fred, different opinions on this here but I just use/ignore the safety and it is no problem for me. I don't feel like doing anything to change it. Are yours fairly 'snug' then? Mine flop around so loosely they often go 'on' when they were left 'off' and vice versa. So I do sort of 'ignore' them as ...

Starting to reload 357
Hello I'm more and more convinced that I have to start reloading 357 mag. I don't have much money, but I want to get equipment that I won't outgrow quickly. I'll likely be doing low volume reloading in 357 initially, and later in 45 acp. Should I get a kit or pick up components. Any advice would be ...

Re: just got a used EMF Rossi SA 1892 in 357
Definitely ugly safety, but I'm completely ready to ignore it. I can't tell you how glad I am to hear all the positive responses about this gun. This weekend I'm definitely taking it out in the snow for a little noise making.
