I hope that he stays with it all the way to Eagle. My son got his Eagle rank this past March and it was something to see. He also happened to get his 1st levergun that night: a '74 Shiloh Sharps carbine in 45-70. The Scouting program is great for teaching boys things that are really important.

I have done the Remington Steal on 2 870's: one I kept and one I gave to my neighbor's son as a police academy graduation present. He got the Trac Lok sights and modified choke added. The one I kept went to my son. You won't be disappointed if you go that route. Wilson Combat is great to deal with.

I have a Shiloh Number 1 in 45-70 and love it. I ordered a 74 carbine for my son as his reward for making Eagle Scout. It has upgraded wood and his initials "Quigley-style" in gold on the sideplate. It is seriously cool. The folks at Shiloh are great to deal with, too.
