The Victoria Cross is still there, and is still made from metal from Russian guns captured at Crimea.
The George Cross is a similar award for Civilians- it still exists.

Was he coloured? the award system often works on prejudice. I would have thought this soldier clearly deserved a Medal of Honour. Then, I suspect your award system is as bad as the one in England or Australia, with higher awards often being given under circumstances where there are political reasons...

Sako do not make break open single shot rifles unfortunately, and Sako rifles are also not what they once were in terms of build quality- but then nothing is.

I don't know. A while back I had a gunsmith adjust all my triggers to a 3lb let off, the aim being to get the let off as similar as possible on all my hunting guns. He could not do anything about the 9422 M or the 7600.

I have a love hate relationship with my 7600- I don't like the fact that I have to carry it locked and I don't like the button safety, preferring a hammer style lever gun safety, problem is it is too darn accurate to bring myself to sell.

I have a 35 whelen 7600 though not with the pedigree of yours. Mine will shoot clover leafs if I do my job right. They are naturally free floated and shoot brilliantly once you get used to the trigger.

I can understand why you are upset. Aside from the scratch, it looks like a nice bit of kit.

What loads are you using? When I had a Browning 92 357 I decided to use up some wad cutter loads I had around the place- they would not feed properly. Longer bullets did however feed without a problem.

I know a fellow in Sydney who has a scooter with a 300 cc motor- reckons the added oomph and resultant safety compensate for a bit of an increase in fuel. He is probably right- I cannot see a 125 being able to accelerate out of trouble.
