Laws are very different where I am. Distillation of spirit is most definitely against the law. However, I am allowed to distill water for batteries, irons, etc. For this purpose and this purpose only I also use a reflux. :D

Joe, I've heard of a few guys that have bought sporting stocks - plastic - for the 303 and use that to hunt with and keep the wood safe. Makes the rifle a whole lot lighter as well. Just a thought.

Yeah fellas, you're right. This is never gonna be a target rifle and I never bought it as such. Guess I'll have to do a little more shooting with it and, after all, I use it as a hunter. Thanks for the advice fellas. Unfortunately the 3" group was at 50 yards.........now you know why I am disappointed. Sounds like the receiver peep might be the way to go.....worth a try anyway. Not too happy about putting a scope on it, however, having said that, I will if needs be.
