Re: Automatics

I can't emphasize what Rusty said enough....know what purpose/roll your new pistol will fill. Also handle and fire as many as you can. It sounds like that shouldn't be a problem with your local range. I was in your shoes earlier this spring and debated for quite awhile between the Glock 19, Glock 17...

Re: OT - Chrono Day At Last

I think the first paragraph of your response really answers my question, although I appreciate the more indepth explanation of your conversion. Attempting a conversion like that is more than what I would like to take on as a project. I was looking for a way to get a "2 for 1" by purchasing...

Re: OT - Chrono Day At Last

COSteve, So you bought a longer barrel and a new slide for the G20. Did you also get a .45ACP barrel that you use on the G20 frame? What I'm trying to figure out is can you buy a .45 ACP barrel and slide to put on the G20 frame? Would you have to buy .45 mags as well and would they work in the G20 f...

Re: Boundry Waters 2011!!

I haven't been to the BWCA for 2 years and man do I miss it! We have gone in the Mudrow Access to Horse Lake. 4 Lakes, 3 Portages not bad. One year we canoed down the Horse River, and were able to see some pictographs only accessable by canoe. Truly unbelieveable. And the Walleye shore lunch was rem...

Re: do you still have your first gun?

My first "gun" was a Daisy BB gun. The first rifle my father purchased just for me was a S&W Model 1500 in .300 Win Mag. The first gun I bought with my own money was a Rem 870 Express. I still have them all.

Re: Elk Hunting Cartridge Preference

From your description of how well you shoot the 7mm I don't see why you wouldn't want to use that. I've never shot a 7mm but know lots of people in Montana who have taken elk with the 7mm (as well as a .270 Win, .270 Weatherby, and the venerable .30-06). Personally I would use my late fathers Model ...

1st Levergun

After several months of debating and overthinking on my part, I finally bought my first levergun. I found a 1949 Marlin 336 RC .30 WCF at a somewhat local (45 minutes away) gunshop. The bluing is starting to fade due to wear, but the stock and forend are in good shape. It came with a Lyman 56 sight....
