Re: J Miller's Cerrosafe Follies, Part's 1 & 2
I watched my local gunsmith do a chambercast of my rifle and he used a rolled paper tube to deliver the metal down into the chamber. Also a slight touch of oil to help release after cooling. Also very important Cerrosafe expands slightly on cooling to room temp. See Brownell website for more info. h...

Re: OT-Nickel plateing
If it is TRUE "Electroplated Nickel" then it can be stripped the same way it went on. Take it to a plater and they can remove it. Just reverse electroplate. If it is "Electroless Nickel" note the difference, I do not know. I have no experience with that type. Beware that after re...

OT Vintage photo of industrial usage of leveraction
An old family photo showing granddad and employees in the workshop. I believe a Marlin 1893 rifle center and a unknown holstered revolver on the left. Also had 2 Thompsons at one time but they are long gone. They were full auto versions. http://wrx-now.tripod.com/assorted/index.album/williams-worksh...

Re: New Jesse Stone Movie
I have been able to pick up 5 of the Jesse Stone DVDs from Movie Gallery for next to nothing as they are in receivership. Excellent series with fully developed characters verses most of the ... that we have to put up with due to the small attention spans of the me me me generation. Robert Parker was...

Re: Range Report - 99C can shoot... better than I can anyway.
The way it tends to go is "Heavier the bullet the higher on the paper" Due to the increase in recoil on heavier bullets the barrel has moved higher before the bullet has exited the barrel and you have to resight your gun.

Re: Semi OT - Federal primers really irk me....
I currently have 2000 SR, 2000 LR, and 2000 LP Federal Primers and yes the packaging is over kill. The CCIs take 10% of the space for the same number of primers. I use the square RCBS primer tray and never had any issues on transfer to the tray. I use a Dillon 550B for loading, I therefore have to l...

Re: Black powder with jacketed bullets
I wish I still had the Lyman Black powder reloading book. I believe there was an answer for this question there. Why not contact on of the BP manufacturers and ask them? They should know. If you were to used pistol bullets in your reloads you may get good expansion as their jackets tend to be thinne...

Re: Smoothest short actions?
I have a Ruger #1 in 22 Hornet. It is likely the best shooter after my 6mm PPC rifle. Easy to load and quiet and still has the punch for small and larger varmints. Just a SS but still fun to shoot.

Re: Smoothest short actions?
Mind you this is on a Savage TD not a fixed barrel! I have a second barrel for my 99G in 22 BR. As long as the case face is the same as the original there is not much to it. I used my takeoff barrel from my Win 70 in 222 Rem and did all the work except chambering it. My gunny already had the reamer....

Re: Questions about Savage 99's?
You can not go wrong with a Savage 99 that is mechanically in good shape. My dad had a pre WW2 Savage 99 in 300 Savage. He could out shoot many bolts on a good day. The Savage 99 that I currently own in 250-3000 shot easy 1 1/2" groups at 100 meters. That is with factory loads. Plain old Winche...

I have an older 99 in 250-3000 that outshoots any of my Winchesters. And no you can not have it!

Re: OT: AnotherCougar sighting this in WI
Now THAT I would like to have seen! The coolist thing I seen was from my buddy's trail camera on a food plot in northern WI. He had video of a bear running across his food plot dragging a dead deer in his mouth . As the bear left the food plot you could see the cougar enter the far end of the plot a...
