Hi All, Been a long time since I've been on here. I am looking for advice on how to crimp the 30-30. In the past I have used what a friend described to me as bouncing the ram. It works I guess but seems rather imprecise...... So I am looking for a more consistent way. Maybe I am over analyzing it......

I have been using a Sierra 125Gr HP bullet. It does have a cannelure.

It looks like the Sierra will have a OAL of slightly less than 2.45 inches. I have a datasheet for 130gr SPR FP that states 2.540 inches. So the 125 is gonna be .1 inch less. Can you use load data for 130 with a 125 bullet? I know the 125 is lighter but what about the difference in internal volume which does affect pressure.

I prefer to compare data. I only have one Hornady manual and powder specific manuals from Hogdon and Alliant.
