Re: my new rossi 92 was pitted rusty under the wood (update)

I took delivery of my Rossi M92 in July 2010. I fell in love with the 20 inch octagon barrel and case hardened finish on the receiver! I noticed a small rust spot on the barrel next to the handguard but dismissed it as a slight blemish (I don't like rusty guns)! Since then I have fired the gun and h...

Re: Having difficulty removing the magazine cap on Rossi M92

Thanks for the many suggestions. I have an impact tool and I have used Steve's method of hollow grinding bits. I am glad to hear that I am the only guy with this problem!
I'll get to work and see what I can do and report back with my results.

Thanks again ....

Re: Having difficulty removing the magazine cap on Rossi M92

This is a new Rossi M92 and I hope they didn't use some rusting agent on the threads! If you coat the threads with iodine before assembly the screws set perminantly! I could try heating my mag cap screw but I don't want to screw up the finish!

Having difficulty removing the magazine cap on Rossi M92

I can't remove the magazine cap crew on my Rossi M92. I have an octagon barrel and the screw appears to go through the magazine tube and into the lower barrel flat. I purchased a screwdriver to fit the cap screw but I can't turn the screw! I have tried tapping the screw head with a soft hammer and f...

Re: Preferred length for M92?

I just shot my new Rossi M92 and love it! Mine is a 20 inch octagonal barrel with a case hardened receiver. The gun is nicely balanced and looks great!

Re: Sighting problems with a Rossi M92

Steve, I have the 20 inch octagon barrel on my 92 and the loads I was using were light so that I wouldn't lead the barrel! I would guess that the 100 yard mid range trajectory would be about 7 inches. The problem I have with open sights is that they don’t work for me when shooting into a dark backgr...

Sighting problems with a Rossi M92

I just took my new .44 Rossi M92 to the range today! I decided to sight it in at 50 yards with hand loads (6g of Unique behind a Laser-Cast 240g bullet). The rifle worked perfectly! No problems with feed or ejection and no deformed brass. The only problem I had was with the rear sight. All shots wer...

Re: Slickin a Rossi M92

I didn't expect so many good ideas! That Taurus sight sure sounds good compared to the Marble sight. Years ago I had a Marble sight on an old .35 Remington pump. My dad had me remove the aperture disk so I could see in low light. It worked out good! I think the term now is "ghost ring"! I ...

Slickin a Rossi M92

I received the DVD from Steve < www.stevesgunz.com > and couldn't wait to watch it! Wow! I have read a bunch of Gun books and have worked on lots of guns (semis & bolts)! Most instructions are difficult to follow and lack sufficient detail for the casual gunny to follow! Steve's DVD is EXCELLENT...

Re: What's a good .44 mag plinking load?

I took delivery of the Rossi M92 on Tuesday and I just received my shipment of the Laser-Cast 240g SWCs! I have some new brass and after I pick up some Unique and Large pistol primers I am ready to start shooting! Lefty, I usually use CCI LP primers for the .44! What do you recommend with the 6g of ...

Re: What's a good .44 mag plinking load?

Thanks a lot guys. I looked up Oregon Trail on the web and see that the bullet is also lubed which is a good thing. I agree that 2400 can be a problem with unburned powder! I also hate to remove lead from a barrel! Lefty’s experience sounds good to me. I don’t do any hunting anymore but I like to pu...

Re: What's a good .44 mag plinking load?

Lefty, that sounds like a very nice combo load! I am not familiar with the “Laser cast” bullet! Does it have a crimping groove and who supplies it? Years ago I did use Unique powder in my 45 ACP but the case volume was a bit smaller. As I mentioned in my post, my experience with small powder charges...

What's a good .44 mag plinking load?

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk and soon to own a Rossi M92. I would like to shoot medium loads with a 240 g lead SWC bullet. I have some Hornady bullets without gas checks that I would like to use in my new M92. I have used 2400 and Titegroup powders but am somewhat afraid of short loading due to in...

Re: Rossi M92 configurations

Thanks for your responses. I was concerned about receiving a rifle that didn't have the end cap on the forearm as I have seen on some postings of the Rossi M92. I have ordered the DVD from Steve in case I need to fluff and buff the 92.

Rossi M92 configurations

Hey all, I am new to this forum and have been enjoying the various topics. I have just ordered a 44 mag Rossi m92 with 20 inch hex barrel and case hardened receiver etc. I notice that there are quite a few variations on the 1892 and there seems are different forearm configurations. My rifle has a me...
