Re: Most important gun in American history...
The single-shot shotgun, including it's fowling-piece predecessor, without a doubt. Every family had one, it was versatile enough to use for all kinds of hunting, defense and even militia service, and was affordable. This was truly the gun that won the west. And the east.

If you choose to use a filler to fill the case (totally unnecessary, IMO, with smokeless powder), be sure to add the filler weight to the bullet weight in determining the powder charge. Otherwise you might be in for a big, nasty surprise at the range.

I've decapped a lot of .30-06 and .223 cases over the years using just ordinary sizing dies, never had a problem. For removing the crimp, I like the CH primer pocket swage, which I believe is about the same as the RCBS unit. Easy to set up, fast and effective. Available here: http://www.ch4d.com/ I'...

The 94/22M is a great little rifle--I love mine. I use it for Pistol Cartridge Cowboy Silhouettes. I also have a Rossi 1892 I bought for this, but so far have ended up using the .22 Mag. Would small rifle magnum primers be suitable for full-power loads in my Rossi .357 mag. rifle? I know they're harder than pistol primers, but are there any other differences? For that matter, is the increased hardness likely to be a problem in pistol cartridges loaded for a rifle?
