Re: .44MAG lever-action loads
I found this post very timely. I to have a Rossi 92 in .44MAG and had loaded up some, what I thought, were fairly mild loads for it and my new Uberti 44 mag Colt clone. I had spend days researching for just the right plinking load and settled on 8 gains of Unique over a 240 gr Xtreme plated bullet. ...

Re: Buying cheap guns vs. buying good guns cheap
I have to agree with CoSteve also, and have typically purchased guns that I thought were the best value to me. I don't hunt, I can't carry (I live in SoCal), so all my guns are just toys. Sure I'd like a high end custom whatever, but I'm not willing pay that high a price tag to punch holes in paper....

Re: Puma Question
AJMD429, sorry you had to share in my pain. Glad you were able to work it out. Me, I'm not comfortable with filing and sanding on my new pop gun. I feel I've done enough as it is. Not that it's that bad, I just had hopes of keeping this one in decent condition. Griff, I did try taking the band off t...

Re: Rossi '92 - what caliber?
I was in your same position about 4 months ago. I have a small 3" revolver in 38 special, and have been reloading for it for several years, so the logical choice would be the .357. Unfortunately logic didn't win this time so I went with the 44mag with a 16" barrel. I now have all the gear ...

Re: Puma Question
I took the butt stock off this weekend and didn't see the giant crack I was expecting, good new for me. I'm still going to reinforce the area with glass mat as Nate suggested, however, I still don't understand how I would use the bedding material? From the instructions in the link provide by Tycer (...

Re: OT: Day glow green valve caps ....
Dumb question time; I have my own air compressor so I don't need to depend on anybody else for my tire air. So can a private party buy cans of nitrogen for their tires, or is this another one of those; you can't do it unless your licensed and controlled by the govt things? Joe You can purchase a ta...

I'm also running the latest version of Ubuntu, Firefox, and using Verizon FIOS. The video works great.

Re: OT: Day glow green valve caps ....
I believe there is some small amount of truth to some of the claims about using nitrogen in car tires. I'm and avid off-roader and have a nitrogen tank keep the shocks filled on my sandrail. One season I had pretty much a full tank leftover after refiling my shock so I use it to air up my motorhome ...

Thanks Griff, I'll do my best to remember the Off Topic tag for any non-lever gun questions.

Re: Puma Question
Griff, Nate, the screw is indeed going in from the left side. I seem to be able to line it up with the threaded hole ok, but it doesn't seem to want to screw in. I'm going give the vice trick a try towards the weekend, when I have more time to figure out how to pad the vice jaws enough to prevent da...

Re: Puma Question
Yes, I'm afraid I'm guilty of trying to use standard screw drivers, which probably didn't help. I'll have to see if I can pick up a decent set next time I purchase more reloading supplies. I'll have to email Nate (Stevesguns.com right?) to see what he'll charge fix the barrel band and the suggested ...

Re: Newbie with a new addiction
Streetstart, I glad to hear you don't mind talking about other types of gun or other subjects. Some boards are so focused to one specific topic in tends to get rather monotonous. Yes, the .480 revolver is a big beast, but I load it down quite a bit. Not to say it's mild, but at least I can manage it...

Puma Question
As I said in my 1st post, I have a few issues I created with my Puma 92. I didn't like the finish on the wood as it looked dry and washed out, sort of like it had been stained, but not sealed or completed finish. I thought I'd got ahead and apply a few coats of tung oil to seal it and bring out the ...

Re: Newbie with a new addiction
Wow, I never would have guess I'd get such a welcome, thank you all for making me feel at home. Streettstar, the factory .480 load is definitely a powerhouse, but my reloads are pretty tame and that's what i shoot most. A steady diet of factory loads just hurt too much, both physically and in the po...

Newbie with a new addiction
Hi, I recently found this site while researching a few issues I've been having with my new found addiction. See, about a year ago I had just gotten back into shooting after 15 plus years. On a whim I purchased an old but brand new (old gun that never sold) Ruger Redhawk in .480, not really know what...
