Re: This is why you kill coyotes (Bloody)
Several years ago I went antelope hunting in WY and shot a nice 13" buck at dusk, I found what was left the next day after the coyotes had their meal. :( More recently, I almost lost my beloved dog Maggie to a coyote in my yard, thank God I came out in time to interrupt! I had to chase it off t...

I was out shoveling for a couple hours just so I could get the Kubota out. After 5 hours on the tractor I'm half done with the driveway... Had to stop, the wind chill got to me... We got 16" last night, we had a grader come through to open up the road, he was going through drifts that were 6-8'...

Re: Anyone here have a feist squirrel dog?
One of the best hunters our group had was an old J.R. Terrier. He died a few years back & is sorely missed. Herby was a hunting machine, he loved squirrels & rabbits and wasn't afraid to take on coons either! I have a 6 month old female J.R. that I'm going to attempt to turn into a squirrel ...

I would say you definitely came out ahead on that deal! The last SKS I bought was $50.00, but I know a young man that recently paid $450 for one that had some fancy OD tapco furniture. I told him he'd been had. You did fine...

+1 for that load, I love W748 & use it in several different rifles.J Miller wrote:Any cases, Win WLR primers, 32.0grs Win 748, any of the 170gr cup and core bullets. Not the solid copper ones.
I believe Speer has the ones with the best BC.

Re: OT grumpy mood and the 30/30
I have to blame a lot of the gun rags for the misinformation. Those writers need to get paid, so they have to sing the praises of the latest .338 Superdooperplanetsmashermag in order for the manufacturers to sell more guns. Its even better when they take their critter at 1000+ yards! Every once in a...

Re: 308 Marlin Express
Marlington Quality That ain't what it is. Marlin is not yet producing rifles at the new Ilion plant. Remington has had no input into Marlin production. If you NEED more gun, get MORE gun. Don't try to make the .30 WCF something it isn't and it isn't a .307 Winchester much less a .300 Savage or .308...

Re: New Win92's?
I'm kind of confused by FN/Winchester's marketing techniques. I remember not too awfully long ago that a USRAC 94 went for right around $200 at the local K-mart. I have to wonder why they decided to make "every-man's rifle" into a collectors grade model with a $1300 MSRP. Meanwhile Mossber...

I do like the scout... except for that big ugly magazine! Just don't care for detachable magazines on a hunting rifle. I wanted to get a frontier rifle but it lacked the required iron sights. I believe that somewhere Jeff Cooper is looking down, smiling!

Great to see photos of a Sharps in action! I've been lusting after one for years, but I'm leaning towards a 1885 Highwall in 45/70 at the moment. They sure are beautiful though.

I watched both versions of the movie in the same day (last movie I went to in the theater was Gran Torino). I would have to agree that the new version was "grittier" than the JW version regardless of the guns. I just saw that it was the #1 movie in America! And they say that westerns are d...

Good trade! I have owned 3 Glocks, and none would shoot to POA. Groups looked like shotgun patterns, I take my clunky old 1911 any day! And like many others here my carry gun is a Ruger SP101.
