With a .44 mag you could still shoot .44 specials and you have the choice of loading the mag rounds if you want. Ammo is also easier to find. Good luck with whatever you choose.

How about any scene that involves a Gatling gun in use. It's amazig how it knocks all the bad guys or Indians off there horses but no horse ever goes down. If the 45-70 can't knock a horse down, maybe I shouldn't use it on an elk hunt.

Clements Custom Guns, out of Virginia, I believe did similar work for me except the take down. Had a Marlin XLR 1895 shortened, crowned, extended the mag tube and put on a Wild West loop. It came out great. He posts pics of his work. Price was very reasonable.

I beleive many dealers in most states are misinformed or maybe just overly cautious about doing business in Ca. not wanting to risk their FFL. Can't say that I blame them but from what a GB dealer I deat with out of Texas told me, they are missing out on a lot of business due to bad information.
