It was bad in NW Wyoming also. We hunted everyday for two weeks and nothing. No bugling either. An outfitter told me it was his worst season in 25 years. I was told since they had a wet winter, there is plenty of water and grass in the high country and parks so they ain't moving. It was also up into...

Re: M1895 XLR's non-ventilated recoil pad
Mine came with a Limbsaver made for the 1895 XLR. I ordered it with the rifle. Took the stock one off and the other went right on and matched up nice. It works great. I don't really mind recoil but after a shoulder surgery it helps a lot.

I shot a cow elk last season with the leverevolution 45-70. It worked great and for factory ammo, it's not too pricey. About $28 at Bass Pro.

Griff, I was thinking that maybe the cuff on the right wrist is turned around so the buckles/strap don't interfere with his sixgun.
Anyways, I like how you picked the photo apart.

Re: Leverevolution... why am I not excited about this?
I used it successfully on a cow elk last year. I don't reload simply because I have no spare time because of my sons' activities. The 45-70 ammo is extrememly accurate out of my Marlin XLR. I have a bull elk tag this year :D so hopefully it will work again. This is the recovered bullet. It went thro...

I bought one a couple years back. I've hunted elk two years with it and now my 7mm rem mag sits in my safe. I did have it cut to a 20" barrel and it handles great and is very accurate. You can order it with a limbsaver recoil pad also which makes it a joy to shoot.

I only own one Winchester, a newer model 94 30-30, and I noticed when I got it, the foregrip moves very slightly forward and back to where it makes a light "click". The screw is tight. I was wondering if this is common with Winchester or is it just mine. I have four other levers of differe...
