Re: Pointy Bullets in Leverguns... Myth Busted?
No offense intended, friend...I'm new here. I always liked the 35Whelen. I had a chance to own one and regret that I passed. I do have several 35Rem's and they are a Boss-Hoss. I also hunt with a model 71 Browning in 348Win... hit with athourity is putting it mildly. I can only imagine how a 35Whel...

Re: Nothing like a good horse!!!
Been a long streatch of time since I had a good riding horse. I grew up on my grandad's ranch and he never bought nothing but nags...man they was rough on a man trying to work cattle with em...never acted right. I bought me a good horse when I got grown. She got old on me and I sold her to a lady fo...

I have a service/seizure alert dog that goes with me
everywhere... He has boots that he wears in summer
for when the pavement is hot.
People always get a kick out of it...But he likes them.

Re: Shooting vision after cataract surgery?
Glad to read it all went well for you.
My Dad has had cataract surgurys and a detatched retina
he still shoots fine.
I'd say anyone who has eye troubles shouln't be hesitant
to get it fixed.

Re: Pointy Bullets in Leverguns... Myth Busted?
Lever guns are meant to be close range hunting rifles with slower moving bullets , with a wide meplat that hits hard and kills quick. The exception to this rule is the 338 and 308 Marlin Express. Please don't tell my .30-'06, .30-40, or .35 Whelen... I hate it when they cry. :D No offense intended,...

Re: Pointy Bullets in Leverguns... Myth Busted?
I have been down this road before myself and in the end, decided it was a moot point....no pun intended. A few years ago, I had a 7-30 Waters barrel put on a Marlin 336. I have since reamed it to an Ackley Improved chamber, and lengthened the action to cycle a 2.65" COAL It is a very accurate r...

Re: The Real "Capt Woodrow Call"
If any of you ever get down here to Texas, The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is in Waco. I have been there several times and it is worth a visit. You could spend a day in there just looking at the guns. If you are a lever-gun fanatic, it will blow your mind. They have a film that they put on ...

Thank you for the welcome, friend.
My experience was intimidating/infuriating at the same time.
But it taught me a life's lesson. It was 20 years ago
and I am forever looking over my shoulder when I
go places.

Re: New guy from Texas
Thanks Man. I hate to hear stories like that. I have a seizure alert/service dog but I had been mowing and he was inside. I know better i just wasn't using good judgement. I have TBI so they rushed me in for a CT scan and it showed no new damage. My speech has been messed up since about a year ago.....

well, I'm new here, but as someone who has been held at gun point...I'll just start off by saying that when you need a gun, any gun is better than no gun. I'm not a handgun guy. But I can appreciate the purpose they serve. I have a Colt police positive in 32 Long that I like. It fits my hind pocket,...

Re: Another good dog gone.
My condolences sir. I have a service dog and could not imagine my life without him. I was diagnosed with TBI and seizure disorder about a year ago. I even take him to my deer stand and if I am shooting or hunting I put cotton in his ears. He has given me a new outlook on life and before I got him I ...

Re: Ruger Re-Introduces Some Dis-continued Rifles
I never understood the following the 17's have...but to each his own. I'm sure the 77 is a great rifle. I had a couple over the years. Not sure why anyone would want to pay that much for a 22Mag. And for me, if I was going to but a 44Magnum, it would be a lever-action. I don't figure there's much if...
