Re: 1892 feeding issues
Well, after a pep-talk from Carlsen Highway I decided to strip, clean and reassemble this rifle. After watching a few YouTube videos on the topic I got under way. The amount of accumulated crud in the receiver was something to behold. I noticed that cartridge lifter indent was filthy, and also has a...

Re: Commercial Electrical Help Requested
That fuse disconnect has three terminals - the continuous one on the right would typically be for either neutral or ground. This is for either a single phase or two phase load, but I’d guess it’s single phase with a fused neutral. As previously mentioned, the easiest way to establish this would be w...

That is a fine result CH. MOA accuracy from an open sighted 60 year old lever action is beyond the majority of men who’d consider themselves a good shot.

Re: 1892 feeding issues
Looking again in the light, I can see the cartridge lifter support does have slop in the indent it is supposed to sit in, not sure if it’s due to wear or an accumulation of grime, a bit hard to see from above. The bottom of the bullet is being shaved while trying to chamber, which leads me to believ...

Re: 1892 feeding issues
Tanqueray, which one are you having trouble with? I can have a look at my ones when I get home. It’s the octagonal barreled rifle. I really wasn’t expecting it to shoot so well, which is great, but I can’t sell it in good conscience if it won’t feed. I’m a bit apprehensive to disassemble it, I can ...

1892 feeding issues
Howdy folks. I finally got a chance to shoot the two 1892 rifles I recently purchased last weekend. Shooting prone off my elbows, I was pleasantly surprised to find they both shot 1.5” 3 shot groups at 50 metres with factory ammo - a good rest and hand loads should see these groups tighten up even m...

Re: Desert Gold Zane Grey Download Searchable
Zane Grey is quite well known down here in NZ, where he was one of the pioneering big game fisherman, using a leather thumb-drag to catch record book marlin and mako sharks. I think he wrote about his time in NZ in a few books, most notably “Angler’s Eldorado”.

Re: First .32 Winchester Special
Can’t help with the load data, but sounds like it’s a good shooter with the factory loads, and I’m sure a bit of load development will see it shooting even better. It’s always a bit of a gamble buying vintage firearms, not often they come with an accuracy guarantee, but I’d be more than pleased with...

Re: The 1892 Trader.
Good morning, Based on the upper tang stamp I can tell you that the octagon barreled sporting rifle was manufactured before mid 1904. If you will post a detail photo of the barrel address stamp in front of the rear sight I may be able to narrow it down further. The rear sight is not original nor is...

Re: The 1892 Trader.
Good work man - I was thinking about that full length rifle myself. What is the bore like on both of them? I am a great 1892 fan too, and .44-40 one of my favourite cartridges. The bore on the full mag is very good for its age. It was used to shoot black powder for silhouette, but is mirror like wi...

Re: The 1892 Trader.
On second looks the serial number has been worn off the button mag rifle. Is anyone able to give me a window in which it would’ve been made? The full mag rifle is 1912, and the carbine was 1917. The fit of the wood on the full mag rifle is excellent, I couldn’t be happier with it. All three are 44WC...

The 1892 Trader.
My search for a nice 1892 rifle has come to an end. You have to understand that here in New Zealand, 1892’s are not dime a dozen. A handful come up for sale each year, and most look like they’ve been used to stake the tomatoes in the vegetable patch since the Great Depression. I had an alright 44WCF...

I already did some of the homework CH... the only off the shelf mold is the RCBS 170. There are about 4 mold designs in the accurate molds catalogue listed as specifically for the 32WS, ranging from 160gr to 195gr or so, although I’m sure you’ve already seen that. Best 44WCF dies?
Howdy Fellas, hope you all had a blessed Christmas. I was about to blow my Christmas money on a set of RCBS 18805 dies for my 44WCF ‘92, when I noticed that they’re described as “round nose dies for jacketed bullets” which has put me right off, as I’d be reloading cast. What dies are you lot using i...

That’s a great find, I’d love to own an original ‘73 one day. My ‘92 in 44-40 has a similar issue shooting about 6” high at 25 yards, I haven’t yet gotten around to sorting it out though.

That 44mag load would replicate the factory 44-40 loads I’m currently using, and recoil is almost non existent, at 223 levels but quieter.

Beautiful wee rifle! I'm probably telling you what you already know, but the matte rib along the top of the barrel is to stop glare when using the open sights and aiming up at trees etc.

I've been using Winchester 200gr super-x ammo in my 44WCF, as I don't yet have a die set for it. I too noticed that some of the cases were dented from new, but they seemed to fire form themselves and blow the dents out after being shot. If I remember reading correctly, starline has the thickest wall...

That's a pretty neat and thrifty way to revive an otherwise unused mold. I assume the sizing due just pushes them into the lead seeing as the base isn't rebated, I wonder if they'd still work on a harder alloy/hard cast bullet?

That first 1886 is an absolute beauty! I dream of owning one in one of the .50 cartridges, but I don't think they were every imported to NZ in any configuration, I've never seen one here. Seems we only got 1892's and 1894's.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. In NZ we have no restrictions on silencers/suppressors, however we have bizarre laws such as not being allowed flash hiders. Hi guys, new here hailing from New Zealand. The lever action scene over here is fairly non existent.
