Hey guys,
There’s plenty of writings by the old ivory hunters and their accounts, but are there similar historic accounts (books) about hunters in America using lever guns?
Thanks!

Not gunna happen but what cartridge would you choose, if having to go with original ballistics?
I think .45-75 because the 350gr bullets going to have better penetration than the 300gr .50-95’s.
Next question is would you, if you could?

I think it may just refer to the action - r = ? But LA = lever action. The bolt actions in the ad are listed as RBA, so seems right.

Got my first 14 years ago (Erma werke eg73, German copy of a winchester 9422m in .22wmr) and only just now starting to get a real interest in then (well, starting to do something about the interest). If the price is right I would buy it. You can always add the 375 later. You just don't come across a 356 very often. Very much agree with this! And I agree on the raised comb, I really don't like it on a 94. Does the 356 in question have a crossbolt safety? If not, buy it YESTERDAY. Even if it does...

Hey guys, come across a 356 winnie in a gunshop.
Serial number is AE174**
I sort of wanted it but it doesn’t have the rear sight and I’m not a fan of the raised comb on the stock. Personally would rather a .375W anyway but the 356 is an interested cartridge.

Question for the American members regarding serial numbers.
Always wondered this.
In regards to firearm serial numbers, whenever an American posts there number in a forum it’s always like 12**
Whilst on the Australian forums I’m on we just go 1234
Don’t bother hiding it etc. So my question is - why do people hide the number?

Re: Did Marlin Make a 1895 in 444 ?
I'd have to argue about the Marlin 336 action's strength vs. the Winchester 1894. Even the 1894 had it's frame beefed up a bunch to handle the .375 Winchester. But the 336 version called the ".375 Marlin" was not beefed up at all to handle the same cartridge. So I'd assume Marlin felt it ...

In today’s age does anyone “need” a .50?
Technically a BHA in .500 S&W is more powerful than an original .50-110. (Which is also on the wish list!)
It’s more just a want
Though ideally I’d rather an original 1886 with the express sites in .50-110.

20" Barrel, 325 Swift A Frame gives MV of 2,189 and ME of 3,458 ftlbs. Is that a mild, standard or hot load for the .500 S&W? Honestly it doesn't sound that impressive if that is out of a rifle. The old .405 Winchester will push a 300 grain bullet at 2200fps out of a 22 inch barrel with le...

It seems most threads I’ve read on the Uberti copy’s of the 1876 when in .50-95 have oversized (.515) bores, or out of round.
Did they correct that? What do they measure now? How’s quality nowadays?
