92 Winchester firing pin breaking

Help,
I have a post WW1 92 Winchester 32-20 that I keeps breaking firing pins. Does anyone here have experience bushing bolt faces? I’m thinking that might solve my problem.

I just requested to join the group. I saw that there were 94 members. 94 ? What a coincidence.

Re: Lil' Gun in 32-20

That's flatter than mine with the Unique. ( 1350 fps ) I also want to try some Lil' Gun in my 32-20; but I just got a 25-20 and I have to get that out of my system before I go back to the 32. I am off to a 3 gun silhouette match near Waterville, Pa. tomorrow. It will be my first match with the 25. Al

Re: Lil' Gun in 32-20

Thanks for the replies. That's about what I thought would work. He is using a 90 gr. Sierra and might need 9.0 or 9.5 to get 1500 fps. I was really baffled last night as we got him a chicken zero and he needed to go up about 16 clicks to center a pig, and like I said a whole bunch more to hit the ra...

Lil' Gun in 32-20

Has anyone used Hodgons Lil' Gun in a 32-20 rifle. My shooting partner tried 7.5 grs. with a 90 gr. Sierra in a 94 CL Marlin an it shot well but lacked velocity. My silhouette ram setting for my .22 mag was less that what he needed to hit the pig. I was wondering what it might take to get around 140...

Re: Loading a 32-20 for Cowboy Silhouette

Matt,

I am feeling great. This is more like a vacation than a medical procedure. Back to the 32-20; when you buy brass Starline will be better than Win. or Rem.

Re: Loading a 32-20 for Cowboy Silhouette

Matt, Ed and Judy, myself, and Clay are all using Unique. I use a 100 gr. Hornady XTP with 5.5 grs. of Unique. I am not into casting lead, but Ed loads his with the same powder charge with a 115 gr lead bullet. Ed passed that load on to me, and it shot so well I never tried anything else. In additio...

Re: Marlin 1894CL 218 Bee

I bought a 32-20 CL a few years back and fell in love with it instantly. I now have all three calibers the CL was chambered in. I have not done much loading for the 218 Bee, but I did kill a nice hen turkey with it last fall with factory ammo. It was a 40 yd shot placed just below the back of the ne...

Re: 32 special reload

I have used my .32 spl 94 Win circa 1913 to kill deer and also compete in Cowboy Lever Action silhouette. The load that works best for me is 28.0 grs. of Reloader 7 behind a 170 Hornady with a Fed 210 primer. It clocks on the chronagraph at a little over 2000 fps. Al Foust

I have a Win 94 Canadian Cent. with a 26 in. barrel. That load in a 24 in. Marlin I had was 90 fps. slower. I seat to the cannalure on the bullet. I am not sure if it is compressed. Several of my fellow silhouette shooters are using this charge also with good results. Al Foust

I have been using 34.0 grs. of RE-15 with a 170 Sierra for my Silhouette ram loads for about a year now. That load is very accurate and gives me 2345 fps. It really thumps the rams. Varget is also an excellent choice, but is a little slower in the velosity department. Al Foust

I have been testing my 25-20. I really likes 75 gr. speers with 5.5 grs. of Unique. I tried 1680 and Imr 4198 and they were ok but the Unique loads were more consistant. I will update you all when I have shot a Cowboy silhouette match with it later in April. Thanks to all who replied. Al Foust

Thanks for the replies. I did try IMR 4198, and it did shoot fairley well. I will definately try the AA 1680 as I like to use my B&M powder measure for these cartridges, plus I also just bought a 94 CL in 218 Bee also. Thanks, AL Foust

25-20 loads

I just picked up a Marlin 94 CL in 25-20. Would anyone care to share their pet loads with me? There is not a lot of good data for this round. Thanks,

Travis, I don't really mind shooting these loads; and my gun has a crescent metal but plate. The weight of the 26" octagon barrel will compensate for the added recoil. I wouldn't use this load, but for increasing my percentages of knockdowns on steel rams that weigh 56 pounds. Al Foust

I shoot Cowboy Silhouette with a 26" 94 Win. I am using R-15 with my 170's at the rams. I am getting 2345 fps, but remember that's with a 26" barrel. I also have a 24" 336 and the same load clocks 2245 whith that.

I agree with all the above about the 32-20. I have one in a Marlin CL Classic; and it is the most fun to shoot gun I own.

I am guessing you may be a Cowboy silhouette shooter. I have done a lot of testing to develope a 170 gr. load that will reliably knock down a 56 lb. ram. Th best powder I found for velosity was R-15.I tested it in a 336A Marlin with a 24" barrel and got 2245 fps. without any signs of pressure. ...
