I live in north Faulkner Co. and was spared any storm damage. I work for the Sheriff's Office and was out last night where the storm came through. It followed almost the exact path that the 2011 storm followed. This one was way worse. The damage was more than I've ever seen. Places that received roo...

I have an American Arms Derringer chambered for .45/.410. Light easy to conceal, even in jeans. With a couple of #6 shot .410 shells it's plenty for snakes and up close and personal it would go a long ways toward discouraging two legged predators. Is it a target pistol......nope and it has a very he...

Please don't use water on your new holster. Wrap your unloaded handgun in a heavy plastic bag, like a heavy freezer bag, and push it down into the holster. Leave it over night. If your holster is a pancake style holster you could wear it around the house for a few hours. Pancake holsters tend to pul...

Elk hunting in the Powderhorn Wilderness in CO. a few years ago, it was getting late and I was hunting my way back toward camp. I was in a fairly narrow drainage slipping from juniper tree to juniper tree. I would stand in the lower branches of the tree and glass the area. There was a trail along th...

Re: Lets shoot the breeze about your first lever action shot
The first deer rifle I ever bought was an old cut down Enfield in 303 British. I swapped it for a Winchester 94, 30-30. Killed my first buck with that '94. Wish I still had it. Now I've got eleven lever actions. Two are '94s, a SRC born in 1915 and a trapper born in 1953. I love me some lever actions!

The folks at Starline and Sierra are super great and really back the shooting sports, of course, that's who they make a living from. But they are helpful and accommodating. I met them in 2002 when I competed in a mounted shooting match at the MO. state fair in Sedalia.

The .243 is a perfectly capable deer round, provided that the shot is correctly placed. It's not one that I (personally) would prefer if the shots are likely to be long or a less than perfect angle. The .308, on the other hand, is a pretty good all around choice for deer or black bear. Just my perso...

Speer Reloading Manual #14 shows the 35 Wheelan Max load of IMR 4895 w/ a 250 gr. bullet to be 49.0 gr. for a MV of 2142 fps. and the 350 Rem. Mag with a max load of 53.0 gr. of the same powder for a MV of 2353 fps. So the 350 is a bit hotter.
