Re: New Winchester/Miruko .357, SRC, stock fitting

Yeah that's pretty excessive. Too proud is not always a good thing. Winchester had a tolerance on wood fit of 1/64" .
Usually just enough to catch a finger nail to almost flush.
They are doing this to speed up production "one size fit all"

Easy fix though if desired .

I found out the receivers, internals, and barrels are all forged steel . With this in mind one can expect to pay a premium over any foreign arms. Only critique I would give is I don't like the Marlin style checkering and I do not like later fat forend wood. Option for plain wood and bone charcoal colo...

I thought I read the receiver and barrel were made from forgings ? If that is true that in itself explain some of the extra cost .

Winchester 1892/1873 saddlering staple removal

Occasionally people remove the staples on 1892,1873 SRC . Especially if some form of restoration or maybe a damaged or cut staple. The older staples passed through receiver and were almost swaged a little inside . A 1/8 punch carefully placed through spring cover screw hole will tap the legs out. Bu...

11.4 MB is to big of file here , largest file I've ever loaded here was 1.6 MB
You need to reduce size to try to be in the KB range.
Easy on a smart phone to take pictures then edit to reduce file size.

All those spin off model. ,53,55, 64,65,71 were all a last ditch effort to increase slumping sales of the parent models ,1886,1892,1894

They took some of the more popular extra cost options and made these new models . Rapid taper barrels, short mag tubes, pistol grips etc.

The Russian capture German K98 rifles were some of the last great deals of the last 25 years or so. Early 2000's you could buy on for $99-$200 depending on whether markings were peened out. Pristine RC now going for $800-$1000 . Probably will never be any more imported. I remember Empire Arms saying...

A lot of the earlier steels were not quite what can be made today. But back then almost every single piece was made from a forging which greatly added to the strength of each component where they may have lacked in metallurgy and heat treatment.

Everything about the Winchester 1886 is larger than its baby brother the 1892. 1886 locking bars are longer, wider, and thicker. And profiles are different . 1886 also has a channel milled in its sides.
