The book is Collectors Only by Aurther Pirkle models 1886 and 1892. Had mine since late 90's .Lots of specifications .Although I have only loosely used any of the dimensions. Good books ,I have the 1894 and 1895 bok too.

Any USA made would be my first choice , its hit or miss on eBay but sometimes you find good deals. Harvey Tool is good carbide ,you don't need but nice to have if price is right. The mag tube hanger you rough out with endmill to depth and rough opening. Then switch to dovetail cutter clean up on side .Then start roughing in opposite until hanger can be rotated radially with just light resistance.
Get close I take just .001 per pass until it right.

I agree most hunting rifles that was the first thing to go.
Working carbine maybe different story,I like them on for classic look .But I have never used one for intended purpose..

I bought one recently from Texas Bear ,supposedly were leftover original stock from WRA subcontractor and it looks and measures exactly like original I have .
They are partially open and can be installed pretty easy with couple small crescent wrenches padded with tape and a bench vice.

I've used the magnatip set from Brownells for years,they are ad good as I've seen .And I have half dozen different brands.

I highly polish any that come in contact with.high end firearms like Colt SAA or Similier . Also place a piece of thin paper between tip and slot.

For some reason the OP 's pictures are gone now?
Anyway like I said previously the carrier is cracked in the corner where you showed the bend. Its scrap,they can be had fairly cheap in good condition.

There is a chance that there could be a crack in the dovetail area. Check it real good. Planning on magnafluxing it before preceding, I wire brushed it and looked through a loop didn't see anything . Reline is not possible for 1892 carbine ,barrel O.D. is only .590 to .640 first half of its length.Barrel liners are .590"o.d. same size.
It will be fine for the project as its mainly a tribute piece .
For $63 plus ship I'm happy ,all I need is wood and fabbing lever loop.Stay tuned

Thanks too all , biggest mistake. I made was titanium inserts as they wont color,at least back then didn't know of anything. Wished I would have used 4140 HTSR .
I want to do the ejector housing and loading gate I might try to polish and wire brush carding for a antique silver/grey look.

Plenty of originals on eBay, 1894 and 1892 large caliber are the same. The mag tube is held by the rear band screw ,passes through forend and notch in tube,same for front band. Dobt get one of the stamped repos or post 64.
Make sure it came off a vintage rifle.
Expect to pay $60 or so.
