That is a really good idea. Thank you for the tip. I've been carrying my Seecamp 32acp in a DeSantis pocket holster that reminds me of your holster. Never gave it a thought to carry spare mags in one.

What are you guys filling the hole with where the sliding safety lever was? I've heard of these being filled by welding but then the receiver has to be completely reblued. Not so cheap from what I understand.

I still have gotten around to watching that story but tell me, which SNs of the 700 line were recalled for the safety issue? I have a BDL in 22-250 made sometime between 1967 and 1969 and a Classic in 17 Rem made in either 1998 or 1999. Hope they are not affected.

I did it at that distance with my Model 14 in 35 Remington. It was a standing broadside shot. For that kind of set up, don't hesitate if you shoot the rifle well.

That is a very unique looking revolver, especially the short version. By the way, on one of Jeff Quinn's video segments, he has shown one of these Uberti's which had the cylinder altered somewhat to accept 45ACP ammo in moon clips. He seemed to like that set-up.

Uberti's NEW "Winchester 1894"

Just saw a short glimpse of Uberti's new copy of the Winchester 1894 on a youtube short video. It was on one of Jeff Quinn's Gunblast segments. From what I could see, it did NOT have a tang safety and it did NOT have angle eject for us purists. Let's wish them well with this project.

FYI, there are stainless steel Rossi Model 92s also. I have one of their SRC's (pre bolt safety) in 44-40. Strikingly pretty carbine. Not sure if these (carbines) or rifles are still offered. Maybe the Italian made 92s come in stainless?

I have a Shiloh Model 1874 Military Carbine in 50-70 and it is absolutely beautiful and a joy to shoot as well. Great quality workmanship in all respects.

Those Big Horn Armory rifles and carbines are beautiful. This is probably a rumor but I heard they may also be offering these with straight grip stocks. Anyone else hear that? On a different note that Pedersoli 444 Marlin would be interesting.

At a local Field & Streams here in PA they had Federal 325 rd bulk packs for $24.99 and only one other 22lr offering from Remington in the fancier 100 rd plastic box. Not exactly sure of the price though but believe it was $9.99.

That's interesting about the Colt SAAs being dicey from about 1990-2000 regarding the quality control. Somehow I remember Mike Venturino writing about that for revolvers from the late 70s into the 80s. I could be wrong though. As far as lever guns go, I'm pretty devoted to Winchesters and their clones but if Marlin made a batch of 336s in 25-35 I'd buy one. Something unique like a stainless 336 Texan would really get my attention.

If the caliber HAS to be from your list, I'd go with a Kimber 84M in 308 topped with a Leupold 2x7 scope. Overall the rifle is compact and light with a wood stock and the action uses the Mauser controlled feed/claw extractor. Safety is 3 position Winchester style. Doesn't get better than that! Now, ...

It would have been a nice touch if they had made it $4440 to keep the numbers easy to remember….. Man, that's a lot of money. But I will bet that no frills standard rifles and carbines will follow with more reasonable pricing.

It would be economical in a revolver. You could at least gather up the empty cases, which is not easy to with a semi auto. Even finding larger cases (like 9mm) is not easy easy on grass. You'd never find any 25s.

The good thing about these magazines (even with rehashed articles) is that we can hope that young shooters will discover and appreciate leverguns. It's not all about us and at some point there will hopefully be another generation who will carry on the tradition.

What about the reliability issue in small 45 acp pistols? Jeff Cooper always maintained not to trust any barrel length shorter than 4 1/4" (Commander length). Now, that was at a time when there were pretty much only 1911s around. So, do all other subcompact designs in 45 acp get the approval no...
