the 308 filled to 3000psi (recommended psi) is about as loud as a 22lr out of a ruger 10-22. but makes a different sound.
local fire dept's can fill air tanks. some will some won't.

i have a friend who has a remington keen. inherited from his fatherinlaw. 85% finish and a pristeen bore. i have had the privlage to handle it several times and have shot it many times. i have only seen three of these and the other two were junk. a very interesting piece.

history of smith & wesson by roy jinks page 161 states that serial number 146900-241703, dates 1909-1915, model 1905 third change. may be 4 in bbl or 6 in bbl, round butt or square, blue or nickle.

your boolet needs to match the throat. i once had a 93 in 32-40 that keyholed all boolets at 25 yds. would only put two of five on a one ft square. i increased the boolet size to .325 and all is fine now. copy the loads listed above with the larger boolet and you will probably see good results. this...

1886 lee had no 45-60 dies when i needed some so i cut down 45-70 dies and they work fine. as far as FCD i ordered one for 45-70 knocked the center out and cut it off the length difference in the two cases. works like a champ. the same thing can be done if you make 38-55 out of 30-30. hope this help...
