Re: 1876 uberti
You can get 45-75 brass from a couple different places. I think bartram makes it and someone else. Go to CAScity they have a 1876 thread with a lot of info on both the cartridges that your looking at. I have the 45-60 and really like it. I shoot both smokeless and Black Powder. I think most people g...

Re: Uberti or Chappie 1876 in 45-60 WCF
I have a Uberti with a 28" barrel. I shot it over the weekend and really like it. I bought the Uberti because the shop I deal with is willing to order two of them at once and let you choose. They like to try to keep one in stock. I talked to them about the Chappy but they wouldn't order them an...

Re: 45 Colt Brass
Thanks guys, I think I'll try some of the Imperial wax and running the cas all at once. Maybe that will take care of the problems I'm having. I'll post how I feel about the magtech brass when I get it and load some rounds.

The old timers used ink to fake the stiping on there guns. There are a couple of guys that still do it. One is Jack Brooks in CO and Eric Ketenburg of PA both are traditional muzzleloader gunsmiths. I'm not sure how they apply it but it looks very kool. Eric has a web page but don't know the address...

Re: Another old sweetie
1886 too many people are interested in high speeds and all weather stocks. But these old guns have seen more weather than 99.9 percent of the new ones and they held up. I would rather see a good piece of wood any day. Can't figure it out either, but I quess I'm to old fashioned.

Hobbie I'm using my 32-40 sizing die to reshape the 38-55's so no extra in dies. I'm not willing to pay a buck or more per piece of brass. I'll have a few reformed 38-55s til winchester makes another run of there 32-40s. Although I will be paying that kind of money for my 45-60 from Jamison. But the...

Has any one used magtech brass before? It was the only kind I could find in stock, so I ordered a couple hundred pieces. Would rather have win.,rem or starline but pickens are slim. Also does any one know of a good lube for reforming brass. I've been using lyman sizing lube and geting oil dents when...

Re: Need help from boolit casters
Thanks guys. I found out that my RCBS mold has to have the handles squeezed hard to close the blocks. That took care of most of the finning. My mold was plenty hot, I just slowed my pore too much. I cast some more this evening and had much better success. I paid closer attention to everything this t...

Need help from boolit casters
I cast up some boolits for my 32-40 yesterday and had a lot of rejects, over half. I haven't cast anything but roundball for years. I'm a little rusty at casting boolits. I was using ww for the alloy. My boolits had tits form the vents when they filled out like they should. I know this means that th...

Andrew try making your own charcoal. I have heard from other knife makers that the generic stuff is bad for making knives. Something about the glue in it. I have been playing at a forge for over fifteen years but have always used coal it last longer and you get a lott of heat from it. The set up tha...

Thanks rihmfire. I've heard the same about the water bucket. Wondering if there were any other clean up tricks. The guns usually aren't bad for cleaning up, but maybe thats because I'm used to doing muzzleloaders.

Kirk if your original handles smokeless without a problem the the new ones should have no problems. Thats good to here that the old ones can stand up to smokeless. I think I'll get some 4759 for sure now. I have been thinking about getting it for my 32-40 1894 winnie.

Does anyone own one of the new .357 flat tops. How do you like them and are they accurate. Also does the new locks cause any problems. I'm looking at getting one of these or a USFA Rodeo in .45. I like both but can't afford both. So I must choose one. I've had many Ruger blackhawks over the years an...
