Gary, nope but I've met a few other Staleys in my travels. Lots in Green River Wyoming, some in Jackson Hole. The family has a long history of running.. Started in the early 1700s in a little town Staley Bridge near Derbe (Darbey?) England. Staleys left there for the new world for religious freedom...

I have one of the SteathCams also. It has worked very well for me. Not sure of the model, but it cost me less than $100 when I got it a few years ago. Takes good pictures both day and night and nice little videos. Sounds like Les got a better deal at 2 for $100.

There have been a couple of instances recently of archery elk hunters here in Montana calling in grizzlies, when they "thought" they were calling elk. Not a happy outcome.

One question: did you have the date set correctly for the bear pic? Seems like the bear should have been in hibernation and there should have been some snow (maybe?) in early January.? Of course anything's possible these days with our screwed up weather.

cas (the poster above) makes a good point about setting the trap so that the trigger mechanism is next to a wall as rats tend to travel along walls (or other linear objects) rather than going out into "open" terrain--unless they need to cross such open areas. So, a rat trap should be place...

I'd bet that bats may be using that place as a roost site. Some of them are important consumers of insect pests. Check it out some evening around sunset and shortly thereafter. Flash photos would be interesting.

One thing I have noticed when stuffing sausages is that the addition of some water helps the mixture "flow" more evenly into the casings.

I've only been to Prineville once about 15 yrs ago while attending the wedding of one of my son's friends. I went out shooting my Colt Woodsman while there and really enjoyed the day. Really interesting country and I sure liked it. Bet it's a great place to live. Thanks for the pics Earl.
