My new .250-3000 was delivered today

Used to hunt with a Model 99 Takedown in .250-3000 with a Lyman Alaskan scope on it. Damaged rotator cuffs can't handle weighty guns so I decided I need a lightweight .250. Called Savage and discussed the possibility, then had my local dealer place the order. It's a Model 11 Light Weight Hunter and ...

Re: USAF is retiring the remaining revolvers.......

Once upon a time, long long ago and far away, I carried a model 10 with several M-15 parts transplanted. Mil Spec .38Spl ammo was an anemic 130gr FMJ of .355 diameter in a brass case that had hardly any powder in it, really, no improvement over the .38 Colt of the Philippine Insurrection. Several of...

I'm sure it would sit well with my Parnell forefathers.

Jane Doe and her twin buck fawns spent the night in the ground cover under my second story deck; this morning they tried to get to anything green for breakfast.

Re: NRA Article "The Little Savage: .250-3000"

For years a 1930 something vintage 99 Takedown .250-3000 was my blacktail rifle and each time I pointed it at a deer I had meat, except for once. Because my rotator cuffs are as raggedy as the cuffs of my old Wrangler Riggs work pants, it had to go, just too heavy for my worn joints. Yesterday I had...

Re: The Rare Western Washington Snow Storm

I do not care what caused it! I have shoveled my driveway clear of 30 inches that fell in 24 hours or less and removed another 26 inch deposit from my deck and then re-shoveled both to clear the nightly increase. Had I wanted this stuff I would have moved back to Spokane instead of "Under the B...

Re: A Ceiling Fan for Helicopter Junkies...

Way back when those Hughes choppers were nicknamed 'Loach' after their designation as 'Light Observation Helicopter'. I never saw one that wasn't outfitted as a gun ship and it was common for the dudes in the glass bubble to carry pre-made charges of TNT/C-4 to drop into the mouths of bunkers and sp...

Re: federal bureau of prisons marked winchester 94?

I am quite curious about this '94, having worked for The Federal Bureau of Prisons and never having heard any mention of them. When I was a Correctional Officer (guard, hack, screw, turnkey, poeleece) we had a Model 70 '06 with Redfield sights, 2 M-1 carbines with 15 round magazines and 2 or more Co...

Speer150's out of my .30-30AI Model 99 are amazingly accurate. Only used it on deer once but that one dropped in its' tracks.

I load in small lots so a rock polisher loaded with reptile bedding (walnut shell) from the local big box pet store suffices, I do 'enhance' the reptile bedding with a small bit of Mothers.

Re: WANT! Win 95 in 7.62 Russian!

I'm showing my age but I remember well when Rooshian Model 95's graced the back pages of several gun mags as surplus. I think the asking price was 50bucks or so; I wasn't interested and bought a Model '98 Persian Mauser carbine for 50bucks delivered to me (I was 14 at the time) at the local post off...

Re: Gary Fellars Vintage Sights Ft. Worth Texas Update 6/25

7 year old thread or not, I dealt with Gary several times, I'm sure he was older and more forgetful than me, but in our last dealing he had to remind me of several matters. My excuse was I was driving across the state 2-4 times per week to care for an ailing Mother. See, Gary was one of those guys w...

Thought I replied to this so I hope this isn't a duplicate. I've two, the one I shipped home from my team base camp in the RVN and another I picked up somewhere along the line. My .30Carbine will place 3 or more handloads into an inch paster at a hunnert yards, if I do my part. Unfortunately, it's gonna have to be sold soon having reached that age when too many of anything could be a burden.
