Re: Most accurate Blackhawk caliber?
The .30 M1 Carbine, .357 Magnum, and .44 Magnum ones I've shot were all more accurate than I can be offhand. Never tried them in a Ransom Rest to really see. All are old models.

Ray, I think you'll like the .45 ACP. I picked up one for an Uberti Cattleman I have. Just gives one a lot of flexibility. Though I handload, primers are just hard to come by, especially large pistol primers, and factory .45 Colt is ridiculously priced. On the other hand, one can pick up .45 ACP rou...

Any time someone gets hurt while using any type of firearm, it impacts all of us. Be safe out there. Exactly right! Every "accident" just gives more fodder for the anti's to try to take our rights, and allows anti-gun politicians (who general know less than nothing about firearms) the opp...

The darned Walker repros are tempting, but every Youtube I have seen shows the ramrod dropping and some serious cap sucking with the attendant advancing the cylinder by hand. It just seems to be a system that works only part of the time. But Rube is right -- in its time even with issues it was a hu...

I'll be lucky to see those fine sights ,man they are tiny. I'll get small hole gage and get exact measurement and slug bore to see.I just did a quick check with dial calipers. I think you hit the nail on the head. The bore and chambers could have perfect measurements, and it wouldn't matter to my e...

Hi Pat. You have an interesting one there. According to “ Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993 ” by W.E. Goforth, the barrel markings would indicate it was made between 1899 – 1911. Having a serial number without a letter prefix indicates it was made between 1894-1896. And the pate...

Doc, I can't add much to what has already been said. Yes, originals had a problem with the loading lever dropping. Field fix was often a pigging thong or something similar, as a dropping lever isn't just annoying, but can lock up the revolver when most needed. Subsequent models (Transitional, 1st, 2...

Bill - I have both molds and really enjoy them. I also have EGB's dragoon mold. The heels help in loading, just like the originals, and really make using them in paper cartridges a breeze. Unfortunately a paper cartridge using the J&D bullet is darn near impossible to load in the Italian replica...
