Assuming his eyes are healthy -- He has acute astigmatism, corrected as best they can with eye glasses. Has another prescription in for contacts as the ophthalmologist says contacts are better for "helping" with astigmatism. Apparently nothing can really correct it. Then we can start over...

OTH, Since you don't have a .22 handgun available... I would start with a lighter load to avoid flinching and hindering confidence in a new or first time handgun shooter. You could always buy a cannalure tool and put them wherever you want. :) Unfortunately Speer does not make the bullet any more, do having a cannalure tool would not help. I know they are not JSP but have you looked at the 250 gr Sierra FPJ? Will leave a 44 cal. hole clean on through and busts big bones real good. Pretty much like shooting a big hard cast bullet. 1/2 gallon milk jug (cleaned of course), an ounce or so of vinegar, and a few drops of Dawn concentrate...fill 1/2 the jug up with water and place next to you at the range.

The 5D just came in the mail today, mounted it up. Hope to have time tomorrow afternoon to range test.
Using the bore laser @ 25 yards, it appears that it might need a taller front sight...but that is conjecture right now.
Also picked up a Kimber Custom II TT...so have to try that out too.

In particular I would like to know what loads and bullets were used for the test, the 10mm in particular. Considering real 10mm outperforms both the .45 and .357 by a large margin, the fact the .357 and .45 penetrated and the 10mm did not makes me suspect it was not Norma spec load. I'm with Frank ...
