The New Winchester's
I just finished another conversion on an 1886 Winchester that a customer wanted to shoot. Once again the gun misfired about every 10 -15 rounds straight out of the box, light primer hits from the rebounding hammer system. I wrote Winchester about this when the guns first came out and was told that t...

Until yo slug the barrel who knows? Then is it micro groove or ballard? I just finished a coversion with an old cut rifled barrel on a Marlin 336 and the bore went 307, for that tube we are starting at 310 sizing and may go to 311 depending on accuracy and leading at +2000 fps. It's 22 inches so it has been most likely bobbed, it's pitted and rough on the outside for $100??? I would say more like $50 on a good day. If I were going to rebarrel a Rossi I wouldn't start with trouble, go with a good barrel from the git go, the extra cost will be worth it in the end.

My friend runs a gun library for Cabela's and the last batch of Marlin's they got were factory returns that had been re furbed. Cabela's had a deal to buy all the rebuilt returns to the factory at one time. TThe also bought a whole batch of stuff that was piled in the back room when marlin moved.

Steel shot will pattern best for the most part in what amounts to an I/C choke and sometimes quite well in a open bore. In most older shotguns with the tighter lead chokes even a modified choke will peen and bulge after a while and NEVER shoot steel n a full choke. When I open a choke for steel I st...

Don't repeat DON"T try to BEND a Ruger front sight. They are silver brazed on and you will either break of crack the braze and sooner or later the sight comes off. Take the gun to a real gunsmith and have hiim turn the barrel.
