I think the 336 is the best action. However, there is one fault - it is always exposed. When carrying it through brush I get little twigs in there around the bolt and sometimes it affects the cycling. But it's so solid and smooth I'll still take it. I thought they had to be transferred anyway, through a FFL.

It would be dumb not to, from the seller's point of view, because the BATF would still have them on file if the gun was ever used in a crime. Though I guess that would only happen if the perp left the gun at the scene.
