Re: MOSSBERG'S 464 REINCARNATION OF THE 94
Sadly, your review fits the impression I got when handling one at the store. A mediocre grade of apple crate stock matched to the precision of assembly of a chimpanze with a claw hammer. The round bolt and action bridge are only an expediency so as to not have to machine a mortised square bolt. A us...

To experiment with a higher front sight, build it up with JB Weld and color with magic marker. Make it overly high then start filing it down to suit. If you like it, get a steel replacement made to the same height. If you don't, warm the JB to 200* with your propane torch and wipe it off.

Re: .257 WSM?
What is not told is that the factories experimented with the .25 WSM and could not isolate the cause of occasional pressure spikes. Those spikes occured often enough to be a problem but could not be duplicated at will. They finally settled on the WSSM (short) case which did not display the same prob...

OSOK is about right. Once you push beyond that range, the thin cases begin to come apart. The guns can handle the pressure, the cases can't.

Re: 44 SPECIAL USERS - A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS
Lighter bullets are the way to go in the Charter. I had one of the orignal 3" barrels and shot it a fair amount. Basically, with bullets up to about 200-220gr and speeds of 700-800fps everything was under control. 240 and 250gr bullets at almost any speed gave enough recoil that repeat shots we...

Re: OT - Best 9mm semi-auto carbine for the $?
While the mags are not interchangeable (they are cheap), you might look at the Hi Point for about $200-250 real world. A friend bought one in .40 and we went through about 300 rounds of steel cased Wolf one afternoon without a hint of a stutter. Accuracy was far above our expectations. That was four...

Pretty sure that the Browning carbines were only in .30 caliber. Don't believe orginal Winchester '95 carbines were ever offered in .405 either. I could be mistaken, but I'm almost positive that I've never been mistaken...I think.

A much closer inspection seems in order. Odd that the bluing is good both ahead and behind the S&W name, but not over it. That would not be holster wear. the muzzle is. With the somewhat "speckled" appearance in the photo, it gives the impression that at some point it developed a case ...

Thanks again, crs. Looks like pages out of the family photo album, except we did it in the '50s and '60's. The .327 in a 94 might be goosey. .327 pressures are well more than twice the H&R's. May not be a good idea for a conversion. Best let Marlin build it and stand behind it.
