Mounting scopes on 9422 and Handi Hornet.
I've resisted scopes until post 60. Time has caught up and optics are now on the table. I have 4 scopes, M8 4X28 Compact, M8 2.5X20 Compact, FX II 4X33 Leupolds, and a lonely Zeiss 4X Conquest. I am not in the market for any more gear unless absolutely necessary to use what I have, i.e. mounts for r...

+1 on the 2.5x Leupold!! Me too. Used one on a 444 and sure appreciated the compact size, outstanding eye relief and the sense of optical peep sight. I need to admit I won't own a variable. Keep it a lever and you get my vote. Once owned a 243 BLR, fine rifle similar to the Henry. 308 is a very good cartridge and solid lockup allows better range performance. I settled on a 444 Marlin and as health fades a 94 32 Special as I lean to traditional levers, external hammers, tube mags, and 2...

To me a good brush gun is meant for hunting in the bush, not shooting through it. I've spent much of my hunting in the foothills of Alberta or in Boreal Forest. Good bush gun: Heavy hitter, mine was a 444 Marlin Fast to target, scope capable of 2.5X as a max, mine was a Leupold 2.5X Compact M8 Prefe...

I used the Partitions in a 375 H&H, 7 Rem Mag, and a 243. For black bear up I would use them again in such cartridges. Actually I'd try the Swift A-Frame as well. It is partitioned and bonded core I think. Except for the 243 partitions are a bit much for deer IMO. I found the Partitions opened q...

Nice post. There is no denying the effectiveness of the early lever rifles. This is a direct thread from Earl's sage rat thread, thanks Earl. I am considering shooting cast in a 22 Hornet and maybe a 223.
