To answer the question that started this thread: Use whatever is the most reliable in your firearm. Accuracy, power, and all those other things are useless if you cannot rely on the gun to function properly each time it is fired and the action cycled. Questions of overpenetration are fine for discus...

I took a friend's wife out for Javelina. She used an old Model 94 Winchester 30-30 with a side-mounted scope. She had it loaded with Accelerators. She whacked a nice boar at a bit over 100 yards. Excellent bullet placement, right through heart and lungs. Bits of rib from the right side were blown th...

So in the article Paco doesn't list a velocity for the 125 grain bullet w/ 13 grains of 2400. would anybody like to take a guess as to what kind of speeds he's getting out of that? I'm thinking about 1600 FPS. Looks to me like that's right up there with a .357 Mag. Rusty <>< Out of my Marlin 32-20 ...

Re: Paco's 30-30 loads
Is the Speer manual very conservative in their recommendations? After Omark bought Speer in 1975, they became more conservative on many loadings. My friend Alan Jones was the Editor of the last couple Speer Manuals and worked on some of the others. One of the things they did was switch from using p...

Freedom Arms was successfully sued recently. Partially successful, the judge awarded a settlement in which the plaintiff had to pay half (because of stupidity) and FA had to pay the other half. I don't recall the amount. Yes .. there was some confusion among jury members if I remember correctly, ab...

While this is a nice sentiment, quite frankly our problems run much deeper. Republicans feel that ANY Republican is better than a Democrat. So they will back an anti-gun pro-abortion Sociallist Republican over an anti-gun pro-abortion Socialist Democrat. The Democrats feel that ANY Democrat is bette...

I have an Ithaca Model 49 in .22 Mag --- power level in penetrating steel is about like a .357 out of a sixgun. There is no comparison to the .22 Long Rifle. When fired from a long gun the .22 Magnum shines. It is a totally different creature than when fired from a sixgun. They are more expensive to...
