Re: Cast bullet weights for 375 Winchester

I've shot a lot of cast in the 375 from the RCBS molds, both of the Lyman molds, and the 235 gr Ranch Dog mold. After a lot of range time, and killing deer with the heavier Lyman bullet, and the Ranch Dog bullet, I sold the Lyman and RCBS molds and use the Ranch Dog exclusively. I cast them from a L...

More fancy grips

After wvfarrier's post of his mammoth tooth grips I thought I'd share these Mastodon Ivory grips, also from SK Grips. 10,000 years in the ground can deposit certain minerals that give amazing colors. These are on my 10mm Ruger.

@ Tycer thanks for the link . . . it makes me wonder what a hard lead bullet with grooves ground or cast into it would do . . . just for the fun of comparisons . . . Re: Ruined Rifle

From the looks of the 17HMR barrel I found, it appears to have the chamber bored below centerline, so a center fire firing pin will strike in the correct place on the rimfire round. They offer switch barrel combos with center fire, and rimfire barrels from the factory.

The bore is far, far beyond any restoration being possible. It was so rusted you couldn't see daylight through it. Thought about reboring but isn't worth the cost.

I tried loading LVR with 150 gr bullets. Could be my rifle, or the combination with the particular bullets I was using, but accuracy was dismal, and pressures get out of hand very quickly. Thankfully a friend with Quickload saved me from a likely catastrophic ending.

My 30-30 AI is an 18" Marlin 30TK. I've had the best results with the 150 gr Speer and RL15. I can get to 2500 fps. But be careful, when you get to top end loads, they go way beyond real quick.
