All the more reason to cast your own. I buy maybe 2 or 3 boxes of jacteded bullets a year. Cast for most every firearm I own with the exception of some seldom used rifles, 338 Mag, 375 H&H etc.

I've had great results with the Lansky sharpener. If your using it on a blade for the first time, it can take a while to cut the surface to the desired angle especially if it is a larger blade. Always push the stone into the blade, as opposed to pulling it toward you. Also don't get overdo it on dow...

Yep. One time a buddy spilled an entire bottle of elk urine all over himself and the inside of his truck. It took a long time to get the aroma out of his truck.

24 grains of 296 or H110 with a 240 gr. jacketed bullet is the classic 44 mag load.

Interesting report. It kind of confirms what I had been thinking. 170s are a tougher bullet and 150s seem to be about ideal for deer sized animals.

For general woods bumming and camping I usually pack a 6" S&W 44 Mag. If not that one, it's a 6" 357. Never had to use it for self preservation, unless you count putting meat on the fire. :)

That stinks. I would think that those rifles might not be so easy to move without getting caught. Hope they catch the dirtbag or dirtbags who stole them.

I was able to drool all over them at the NRA Convention though. If they turn up I hope they don't find my DNA on them.

Who's going to the NRA Convention?

This will be the first one I have been able to attend. I figured I better go to this one in St. Louis since it's only a couple hour drive. I'm planning on being there all day Saturday.

Anyone else planning to go?
