50 Alaskan: Black Bear - bullet recovered

I gave a bow hunter my 50AK to use on his last day if he didn't get a bear with the bow. He just e-mailed me these photos and information. Range 34 yards. Hit the bear face on under the chin, high in the throat. At first they couldn't find the bullet or an exit hole. Upon skinning the whole bear the...

Ted's theory is as simple as posting the PROTECTED BY XXX sign on your lawn, you know the one the alarm company gives you with your service. Crooks prefer to target the homes without the alarm company sign because there is less chance of resistance, interferrence or being caught. Gun free zones are ...

I am replying to my own topic because I was caught off guard by the other replies. What I mean is that I referred to the gift-giver as my friend. Well I meant it, but the way the responses were worded made me realize just how much of a friend. You see, I have never met Mike in person. In fact, I don...

I have a W94AE SRC. I love the 300 gr Cast Performance for hogs and close range whitetail (125 yards self imposed limit w/ this gun). I shoot the same loads out of my SBH-H.

Here's mine:

New 50 Alaskan

This is a .50 AK that was given to me as a gift from my friend Mike in Oregon. He sent me the gun and ammo because he is not using it. He said if he hunts again he has another rifle and a 500 Linebaugh handgun to do the job. This was a Marlin 45-70. New barrel and mag tube; parkerized finish; big lo...

WEEK ONE We had 10 hunters, most from this forum: TW5920, BigMike, Foxtrapper, 86er, PaPaBear, RAC, Keepitreal, DanE. et al... I did not hunt bear at all. Here are the results: 3 bears killed 2 misses (one bow, one rifle) 4 additional seperate bear seen over bait - no shots fired. That's actually 5 ...

FWIW - I bought a new latch today at Ace Hardward for $2.99 (2-pack)and fixed the old case as good as new. I figured there was no sense in having identical cases, so I made partitions for the old case interior to make it a true two gun breakdown case specifically for shotguns. I still can't believe ...

I had a Plano Molding Company aluminum gun case for 3 years. It cost about $100 new. After many, many airline journeys one of the four latches broke off. You will probably have to take apart the gun and send only the metal you want done. Kirk, like me, is and English trained shotgun maker. However, he can polish and blacken just about anything. It can't hurt to ask him.

I have always used Kirk Merrington in Kerrville, TX for all metal work and blackening. He is a perfectionist, excellent turn-around time and good prices. Because I have stuck with him for so long I don't have first hand experience with anyone else.

I personally prefer a Kick-eeze pad to the Limbsaver. In my independent testing the Kick-eeze worked a little better and I think it had a cleaner look since it doesn't have the "lines" that the Limbsaver features. I would not hesitate to put one on your gun and make it more pleasant.

That one of our customers with a Man from 1958 in 30-06. He was the unfortunate recipient of the impact when the brute smashed the passenger door of the truck in. The customer shot a hybrid ram and a 4-horned sheep with that gun and it performed perfectly.

There were 3 "black" bucks, but they were introduced a while ago. This guy was born on the ranch and will not turn black until he is around 4 years old and only in the winter. He was 3 when he was taken. Don't want him to inbreed since that is what would be on his mind next month.

Not to be outdone by CRS, she decided she should have a blackbuck too. Thanks to DUFF L BAG for the 45 Colt rifle that fired a 300gr Cast Performance out 117 yards to knock this guy down. This yak was "parked" here for a long time and ended up being the only one. There was a big charity event that asked for meat donations so he volunteered. Two quick shots in succession at 58 yards with the 405 gr Kodiak bullets. Down and out. Thank you Mr. Yak for your contribution to char...

This ornery beast rammed the truck as we drove slowly by. We went to look for him later and he turned over an ATV. Well, he had to go. I shot 'em at around 45 yards with a 405gr Kodiak Bullet @ 2000 fps. It hit the shoulder and exited the off side with a hole about 3/4" round. 1380 pounds of ha...
