But there are advantages to a good sight and a laser dot can be a good learning tool, point shooting , etc....

Makes me wonder how we produced all that ammunition for WWI & then WWII on antique machines; and cannot produce today what we did then? The amounts of ammo exhibition shooters use to shoot up, like Ad Topperwein, Annie Oakley. Those day could not be duplicated today because of ammo. That is a sin.

I would shoot it first for accuracy on paper. See how it does now.
Loose fore and aft fore-arm wood is one of the tuning methods for leverguns to get rid of tight spots/pressure points.

Don't use heat.
My recommendation is:
If the gun fits now just wear it with the gun, keep the gun in it at night (like a shoe stretcher). It will loosen up soon enough.

I'd like to see 22 rimfire factories set up , one in every state, at least one factory for a few states in some cases. I think they would be a good employer and would have no problem selling product. I didn't see the "large bear" part. Better step it up a bit, wider, heavier. Look at the pure copper bullets from Barnes. I have seen them work and they are amazing killers.

I think the short rifle 20" configuration is the best of both worlds, SRC or 24" rifle. The copies are a bit lighter then original octagons too. With all the interest there is all it would take is enough of us to invest in a company, locate fireamrs friendly, non-union right-to-work-state ...

Maybe go back and take a look, it could still be there.
I heard of a Spencer found in a tree like that. The finders thought they would leave it and get it on the way home, instead of carrying two guns hunting all day. Then they couldn't find it again.

I tied a clear plastic jucie bottle with some chicken scratch and peanut butter thrown in. Cut the opening bigger and tied it to a tree branch. Measures 50 yards from a fence post and got sighted in from there with the 22's. We'll see what happens.......

Laser Sights on Leverguns & SAA's

Anyone use laser sights on Leveractions or Colt SAA's/Copies or Ruger Blackhawks?

If so what kind and how were/are they mounted?

I haven't, just stuck to traditional iron sights and tang sights. But I can see where the laser would be quick, useful and a good training tool on SAA point shooting.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Savage 99. Carry, balance, not many moving parts, sight options, and can be very accurate. They just don't come in long cartridges like the BLR does.

Probably in a 2nd or 3rd generation Colt SAA could handle 41 magnum pressures. The cartidge would leave more steel where the notches are in the cylinder. Like 44 magnum , 41 magnum brass is strong and straight . Someone most of done that already.

I spot them from a distance with binoculars then shoot with a Henry lever 22 or Rossi 62. Problem is sometimes it takes along time for them to show themselves. It's fun, good practice, it doesn't shoot up a lot of ammo, and they are destructive creatures getting into just about anywhere of a vehicle...
