When you get the reticle into focus ( must be sharp ) now look at a fixed object ( rifle steady or in a rest ) Now shake your head slightly , left to right; up and down Is the reticle steady or does it move with your head? If you can lay your hands on a set of machinists v-blocs,lay the scope in the blocks focused on a + drawn on a piece of paper on a far wall. Joe, It is doable, the lever works, the parts move, the lifter goes up and down. The barrel is shot, would have to be re-lined, I ran the serial # through the Winchester check thing on this site, says it was made in 1886. I have a problem.
Have a Winchester 1873 rimfire.
It has seen better days,could be considered a parts gun.
Would I be commiting some sort of un-pardonable offense if I did a restoration?
Should I replace the miising parts and wall hanger it?
