Hankster,
Up until about a year ago the LSI Puma and the Braztech Rossi were the same guns, just Rossi 92's. Early last year it was announced that Taurus was acquiring Rossi and the 92's would be imported to the USA through/By Braztech. About the same time LSI announced they would no longer import the Rossi 92 but would be importing the Chiappa Armi Sport 92. Because LSI owns the Puma name the Chiappa 92's are now LSI's Puma. The Fit and finish of the Armi Sport 92 is definitely better than the Rossi but Rossi still has the edge for functionality.
I do think the Chiappa folks will eventually get their guns to work as good as the Rossi's. I have been consulting with them and suggested some changes some of which they have incorporated.

Steve only forgot to mention that the exchange rate for the Euro is less favorable and that contributes to the higher cost of the LSI product.

...And most (or at least many) of the new "Pumas" you see on the market are still new-old-stock LSI Rossis of yore. Steve, I hope the Chiappas (also imported by Cimarron and Taylors for a few years now) do make your suggested internal revisions, as they are beautiful guns. Love the carbines' period-correct ladder sights. I do wish they'd make a proper round barrel/carbine butted "trapper." Wooing of CAS shooters aside, odd that they elected to go the route of a heavy/octagonal barrel and rifle butt 16"--basically a short-short rifle--vs the traditional round barrel/carbine butt 16" for their Trapper model. The whole idea of a "trapper"--to me and Winchester's original notion I'm sure--is compact and light weight. If I want (to prioritize) recoil or muzzle-flip control, I'll get a short or long rifle.

FWIW, both of my Model 92 "trappers", one LSI & one BrazTech, have 16" bbls & carbine buttstocks.
They are a .357 & a .45 "Big Loop" - which I have since switched out for standard loop.

Pete44ru, all of the Rossi trappers I've seen (and had) over the years have also been round barreled/carbine butted--including the LSIs. However, the Chiappa-made LSI (and other Chiappa distributors') 92 "trappers" to date have been truncated rifle configuration--butt and fore-stock and barrel.
