Here's a nice 1917 Eddystone (lend-lease that went to the UK and came back):

And this is a 1898 Krag that my Dad gave me - was chopped (sporter'd) by my Uncle who got it from the DMC and I restored the stock with a new piece of wood fitted under the barrel band and found the hardware for the end of the barrel:

Type 53 Chicom copy of the Mosin Nagant? This is a M44 patern carbine with folding bayonet.

I wouldn't buy it for a shooter - I'd buy a M44 Russian for a shooter - this is mostly of interest to collectors.

Good idea for a post. I'll have to take a few pictures and start one. I actually have 14 swords in my office... :D

The one you are referring to is commonly called the "Patton" sword. I can't recall the number off the top of my head. It was apparently a George S. Patton design. You can also see the basket of a Scottish backsword hanging on the wall near it. In the bookcase is a Japanese wakizashi sword.

oke... so yesterday i went out to buy a mosin nagant.. came home with a k31..... the rifle is in good shape, bore is shiny and extremely clean and it has a tag under the buttplate ( which seems common with swiss rifles) it was build in 1942 and has the potential of becomming my "new" favourite rifle!

i plan to post pictures as soon as i find out how to do that !

Excellent choice IMO. 7.5x55 is more expensive than 7.62x54R but it's well worth it to me. I've owned both and the K31 is still here.

Besides, the machine work on those straight pulls is something to behold. IIRC someone did a rough calculation and figured out if the K31 were made today (actually this was 6-8 years ago) it would run close to $2K due to the machining.

The Swiss made GP11 ammo is Berdan primed but it's match grade. The brass isn't (easily) reloaded but Graf's usually has new made Boxer primed brass and AFAIK the 7.5x55 uses .308" bullets.

My favorites:

This is my baby, original 1921 barrel stamp with a pristine bore, great shooter. The bayonet and belt are a little older, 1918 manufactors stamps.

My first Krag. DCM carbine with a time correct Krag receiver sight.

Thank you for posting these J.The first pic is of my father's Enfield,I'm not completely sure what company made it.After dad shot a nice mule deer buck he had it sporterized and as far as I know never got a chance at anything again. It has a two groove barrel and while the outside machine work looks rough the barrel is not.The second is a Lithgow 1916 no1 mk3-had to have it.Yellow band of paint is still evident( cadet use ).The third is a no4mk1 I could not resist monkeying with.Cheap Chinese scope,Camo tape(which is a pain to remove )and a black hawk lace on cheek piece. All of it can come off, no harm to the rifle.Last a No5mk1 BSA-haven't shot it nearly enough. It does let you know when you pull the trigger even into the following day but not real bad.I've been bitten by the Enfield,Mauser and lately Mosin Nagant bug as well as levers.
