She is a lucky lady!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Angela took a wild ride thanks to an inattentive tractor trailer driver.
She has several broken ribs and her left shoulder is broke. She is in a good bit of pain, and can't sit upright or try to walk without getting dizzy and faint. The docs aren't sure what's causing that, so it looks like we will spend another night here in the hospital. I'm still thanking the good Lord, and am so glad I had her in a car that did such an amazing job of protecting her.

Yes, Kia's parent company is Hyundai, but the reason for their vast improvement in recent years is a new design team, that they pulled from Mercedes, I think.
I have worked for Kia since 2005, and they really are world class cars.

Wow - tell her we are in a similar club - one year tonight - right now for me. What was that car she was in? Consider this - the fellow that hit me was in a Ford Explorer and was uninjured.

WOW! And lucky is an understatement. Not to seem insensitive, but it happens... I was sitting stopped on I-95 in my tractor-trailer in a long line of cars and truck getting across the GW bridge in NYC (South bound), and this clown a few lengths back in the next lane did that to about 6 cars next to me... He claimed he "blacked out." But, I believe it was road rage and this guy just "snapped".

Ain't nothin' worth bein' in such a hurry that you can't pay attention!

Unfortunately, I've been in 3 accidents in my truck; 1 a Honda Civic hit me... Young college student kept askin' "didn't you see me?" I got him up in the my seat and asked if he could see his car? 2 - I was backin' and the lady behind me couldn't find reverse (she'd pulled up behind me after I'd got out to check what was behind me), still my fault. And 3, a guy in MT hit a deer in his Izuzu p/u and demolished the front of his truck... takin' out his battery, which left him sitting in the slow lane in the middle of nowhere (East of Deer Lodge, MT), without a light 10 miles in any direction, at 8pm, a week before Christmas. I saw him when I was about 65' away, doin' about 65mph... (I still only remember seein' a patch of dirty blue with "I Z U" in white... due to the road sand & salts (whatever they use in MT for snow), no reflectors were visible... I swerved left as fast as I could and then fought to keep it on the road & upright! I succeeded in both, but clipped the rear left taillight on his p/u with my trailer. That peeled his body open like a can-opener and shoved the p/u some 75' up and across the shoulder into a pasture! Luckily for him & I that he wasn't in the p/u! Let alone in front or beside it!

Ted, you both have my prayers. And there are NO excuses for that driver.

Griff, the driver readily admitted he wasnt paying attention, he was trying to pick up a water bottle that fell on the floor. When the trooper told me that, I asked for just five minutes alone with him. The trooper laughed and said, he didnt think that would be a good idea, at least for the truck driver! I think he thought I was joking......

Got her home now. She is in a lot of pain, and any movement is a challenge. She is hurting in places that weren't hurting the last couple days, but the docs warned us that the third day would be the worst for the pain. Fortunately the pain meds and muscle relaxers they prescribed make her very drowsy and allow her to get some real sleep finally. So far, so good.

Yes, you are correct Sir.

She is doing a little better today, still hurting, but she's able to get herself out of bed and walk to the bathroom or the living room on her own. Still sleeping a lot, like 18 hours a day due the meds, but I tell her that's the best thing for her at this point.

I appreciate that Blaine.

I had to take her back to the ER on Friday because of terrible headaches, nausea, and dizziness that no pain medicine was touching. We called her regular doc and he said to get her right to the ER for another CT scan because of the possibility of bleeding in her brain. The CT was normal, thank goodness, but they said she had post concussive syndrome, and those symptoms could last several weeks, to months. The other two hospitals she was in never mentioned she had a concussion at all! During the talking with the ER doctors, they picked up on some things, and want her to see a neuro doc to see if she has more significant brain injuries. So yeah, she can use all the prayers you all can throw her way. I'm missing a lot of work caring for her and taking her to doctor's appointments. My work has been understanding so far, but I feel like their patience is wearing thin. The bills keep rolling in too of course, and my income has been cut in half, and her's is obviously not coming in at all. Fighting with the insurance company to try and get a fair payout on her car too. Right now they are trying to give me significantly less than I owe on it.

I shouldn't be complaining, it could certainly be worse.

Didn't sound like you were complaining to me. Anybody who has undergone any of the things you are dealing with understands and emphasizes. it is frustrating enough to deal with insurance companies let alone deal with medical issues at the same time.
